I used to care about my lawn a little but no more. I have a decent sized yard and I mow it 1-2 times a week but I never fertilize, use weed killer, or water it any more. Actually I mow 3 yards (I have an elderly neighbor and another who is an occasional weekender) and I'm sure not spending time keeping theirs up any more than I already do.

Before I got a riding mower, it was 2.5 hours using a push mower just for my yard. It'd be closer to 4 if I had done the three yards. Now I can do all 3 in about an hour.

But that day is not today!!! The sprinkler will be turned off probably sometime next week assuming we start to get rain. I've been running it M, W, and F due to the lack of rain we've had in Kansas this spring and I'm setting the stage for a good lawn that can withstand the summer heat.

ugh, that reminds me, my underground sprinkler box has a crack in the side and mud has been invading my valve controls. I need to dig that out and replace the sprinkler box soon and reset some of the heads that have started leaning.

Have not used my sprinklers in the 8 years since the house was built. Have not fertilized the lawn either. My thinking was either the grass will live in this climate or other green stuff that can will replace it. Weeds look like grass when you don't let them grow 2ft high.

Egad, man! That's an elite first world problem, fer suuuure!

Fortunately for you, relatively recent Supreme Court decisions now allow a man and his lawn to marry, making you one gay green blade lover, a real . . . rake! :p ;)

I've trimmed my bush, attended to my plums, whacked my weed, and whittled my wood. And after all that I'm too tired to go in the garden.

TBS though I dont do anything to my lawn (apart from throwing my son and a lawnmower at it occasionally) but I live in a climate designed for lawns.

I live in a climate for lawns also, but it's a pointless waste of time and energy. I'm more productive staring at a wall than I am making grass shorter. I used to think I was simply lazy(I really am), but I've been cutting the shit out of trees lately, and I don't mind that. It's harder work, but there's a point to it. I'll be getting heat out of that stuff next winter, and I don't look like a little bitch riding around on my pretend car making grass shorter. Swinging hammers and blades is a manlier past time.

Not to derail, but I can't stop pronouncing your username "Lexuskiller" in my head.

Do you randomly crash in to every Lexus you see?

So, your neighbor is more responsible. Not poisoning the water table, not wasting water. Good for your neighbor!

Don't forget he's a savage for not maintaining certain visual standards that we, as a community, have grown to adopt. :)

Put lime on the urine burned areas.
Yep... then the voles come at some time and start digging tunnels everywhere till I find their nest and cruelly gas them w/ my lawnmower exhaust... it doesn't end!!! I hate doing all the maintenance and really just wanna leave it alone but for some reason... maybe it's pride or something that i don't wanna do a half ass job w/ the lawn. Due to my work circumstances I had to hire a lawnmower guy last season and this season and he's done a crappy job and made some tire tracks in the front lawn at the end of last season.

To be honest, both of your lawns look like shit. I don't know what grass type you guys use their, but it just looks like a hairy scrotum on either side - one is just slightly darker.

My lawn is just starting to come up. Last year I switched from that Scott's 4-Step poison garbage to Milorganite. I don't even need to put down any weed prevention, and it's basically just poop so no harm to the environment. I try to only do two (maybe three) deep waterings per week, maybe 30 minutes each.

I guess it is cheaper than buying an $80,000 sports car to compensate for a small penis.

People who care about lawns make me laugh for this reason and many others. The waste of resources and addition of ridiculous amounts of fertilizer is beyond irresponsible.
