I feel sort of stupid but... my cpu won't fit in my motherboard?

Those push pins are really annoying. Why do they keep insisting on using them? Screws would be better.

Amen to that. Or some sort of standardised lever system like for the CPUs.

In that video they put the motherboard down on the outside of the anti-static packaging. I thought the outside of that packaging was a terrible place to put the motherboard, as it works as a faraday cage (i.e. designed so that electrical current passes easily on the outside, and therefore not passing through the contents) ? Cotton gloves don't seem to smart either?


As for pushpins, they're terrible. Even on close inspection I thought they were all in when in fact 2 weren't quite. I don't know why they can't have a socket and HSF mechanism that isnt externally standard.

You are right, it is one of the worst places to put anything ESD sensitive.

Yeah it's working fine. I had to fiddle with the voltages for the memory as it was too low and got a bit unstable, but otherwise good. I'm running Vista Ultimate 32-bit on it. Thanks again for all the help on this awesome forum! :)
