I feel sorry for kids

I see in the stores the backpacks and shit already. They must all cringe when they go to the store. LOL! It's still freaking July and they bring this shit out already! What do you wanna make a bet Halloween gets put out next month? 🙄

I really, REALLY don't want the summer to end just yet. It just got here FFS. I hate the cold! And the snow can kiss my ass! 😡

Costco has winter coats on sale already. I was like "WTF Costco?!?" considering it was up to 35 C (95 F) outside last week.

Wait, you're using Celsius. Do you live in Canada and if so they have Costco?

if I do a radius search from my house for Costco 23 of the closest 25 are in Canada

until last year they were all in Canada or 200+ miles away

They doing the loss leaders yet on the notebooks and stuff? I usually pick up a few cases of notebooks, a shitload of pens, pencils, erasers, and stuff like that to supply my classroom.

good time to get summer clothes cheap from clearance.
This kind of store behavior never really bothered me. They are free to sell whatever they'd like and I can buy as I wish. I buy seasonal stuff early too, but by myself. No need to add stress in the family. I seem to remember Halloween getting put out right after Labor day. We spend very little on it and just enjoy the scenery. Christmas is the only one I "work" on, but after Thanksgiving, as we do put up lights and such.
I also enjoy all four seasons.

OMG! That's freaking nuts!

Yes I am in Canada and I'm talking about our Canadian Costcos. However, the products on sale are sometimes often very different from the US, and the online sites are different. costco.com vs costco.ca

Still, it was a bit of a shock to see winter coats on sale at Costco just a few days after a record heat wave in Toronto.

It doesn't snow here but it can be hot as fuck during the summer so I'm looking forward to winter. Bring it on baby!

I SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO hated back to school shopping, it was a sign that summer was almost over. We never did it until August though.

My nephew's school ends in May and opens again in the second week of August. This is in Augusta, GA.

This is nothing new...stores have always started pushing "Back to School" sales in July...and don't feel sorry for the kids...feel sorry for the parents who are expected to buy all that shit for their kids.

I used to get genuinely excited by the back to school stuff. Small towns can get pretty boring for a kid. It's not like we spent our summers at Disneyland or touring national parks. We sat around in the endless heat and humidity asking each other "What do you wanna do?" ... "I dunno, what do you wanna do?"

Then I got to go shopping for some new clothes, got some great smelling pencils, maybe a new lunch box. So many cool boxes to pick from: Batman, Flintstones, Jetsons...

lol

I don't know what it was, but all that new school supply stuff smelled great when I was a kid. And my new baseball glove.

A few years later it was the girl with brown hair and smooth skin in the hallway, in the Springtime.

(No, I don't feel sorry for kids, OP.)

Schools here start back in less than 3 weeks. Many of us with children are on one last vacation with the kids before school starts back again.

with everyone going to year-round schedules, 'back-to-school season' will soon be as obsolete as saturday morning cartoons

I used to HATE that when I was a kid. It would start in like August, and it would be a kick in the face, knowing there was only a month left. "Back to school is here!" STFU stop rubbing it in!

But now it's gotten ridiculous. The christmas stuff is usualy out in September. Best is when the summer stuff, Halloween stuff and Christmas stuff is all out at same time.

Actually Home Depot and Canadian Tire are bad for that. It works both ways. Winter is barely even started yet and they already start putting away the winter stuff. Try buying a snow blower in January when it's at the peak of winter... all gone, and they're selling lawnmowers. Seriously? I failed 2 years in a row at buying a snow blower because of that. I'd go and they were not selling them anymore despite being middle of Winter.

I'm in Canada and I think we got our local Costco in 1995 or so. It has been here a while...

EDIT: A quick Google search reveals Canada's first Costco opened in 1985, long enough ago for an American to have realized. ;-)

Lol I've already been in school activities for the past week, and that goes on for this week and monday and tuesday of next week, and then it's back to school one week after that on August 3rd.

Basically, my summer is already over. 🙁

Holy crap august 3rd? That freaking blows.

I remember how they kept talking about doing school year round, that, and uniforms. Used to piss me off and I just wanted to get school over with before they do any of those things. None of those ever came into fruition at least not at the schools I went to.

LOL! Despite the fact I lived about 30 miles south of the Canadian border in the 80's I could care less what Canada had. Although, in '85 I was 5 years old.

I now wonder if Mexico has a Costco? :hmm: LOL
