I am so looking forward to quitting and going back to my home country

Time for the final sprint. Work hard and be nice to your coworkers and boss so you end on a good note. You never know if you may need their help in the future. Putting up with shit for a few weeks is worth having some good contacts

Only a few more weeks to go. :) Take some mental breaks thinking about how nice it's going to be to get back to where you want to be; a little daydreaming could be a great stress reliever. Where did you grow up?

yeah my logical mind says this is the right way to do it, but somehow I really feel stressed out (chest pains, etc)

I dont have employment lined up yet, but it's not really a worry since I am not married and have no obligations yet

I am not sure maybe it's just me that's worrying too much.

Also the fact that I dont feel at home here and miss my family and friends

On the bright side I only have about a month to go :)

Hang in there bud, ATOT will always be here for you. I felt the same way before I left my last job - had stress, chest pains and everything too. It ended up being the best decision I've ever made so hopefully things will work out well for you too.

You have to get into short timer mode. Basically accept the attitude of "I just really don't care anymore, I don't care about this place. If you ask me to do something I'll say I'll get to it after July 31st and have a good chuckle"

You are in the best place to be. Imagine yourself there. You just don't care and have no reason to give a damn. Laugh when people ask you to do things because if they fire you you can collect unemployment. You'll find yourself in a very happy place and will relish this time of peace.

I wish I can be more like this.

I dont know why but I worry about what other people think of my job.

Shit maybe I should stop worrying so much.

I don't know that I'd go so far as spidey suggested, but yeah it sounds like you worry too much. I know being in another country and working a distressing job is, well, distressing, but don't make it worse than it is by driving yourself insane.

Good luck in finding a good new, and better job. Try to get it lined up before your end date, as it will be one less source of stress. Looking for said job will also give you inspiration on what you can look forward to.

Sometimes I feel the same way about my job. Not the job itself, but the IT manager I contract for. I sometimes feel like just calling my boss and asking him to pull me off that client so I can walk off that site. That IT manager is just a total wacko. He wants everything done NOW and breathes down your neck and gives hour long speeches about how important it is, while you try to work on it. He's a meeting fanatic too. There's always all sorts of meetings for silly things. He also has zero understanding of how the IT workflow happens, and how some tickets or projects can take longer then others. He just looks at it as a number. "why did it take you 3 hours for one ticket, when your other only took 5?". Crazy guy. Just glad he's not my real boss or I would have walked off a long time ago.

Wow déjà vu I posted almost exactly the same thing before walking out on my job. Same thing I gave them about 2 weeks but walked out with 1 week to go. It was probably the wrong thing to do but your health comes first! Remember that if things get really panicy there is always a way out! But if you can stick it out it will be beter for your future job prospects if you are staying in the same field. Also I'd sugest getting counseling and or getting medication if it's serious enough. I've done both and while I still have a lot of issues it has been better than not doing anything.

Ps I see you live in Hong Kong. Chinese resident or foreign worker? Just curious, I'd like to visit and work there some day.

I am a foreign worker.

I don't speak Cantonese and only speak conversational Mandarin.

I thought working here would be cool, but after a couple of months I find that I am not happy here (probably a combination of job issues and general unhappiness with the place)

If you don't speak Cantonese I strongly advise you NOT to come here for work, only if I had known.

Dont burn your bridges.

On the last day, working for my last company, the boss tried to pick a fight with me. I chose to ignore him, and did my 8 hours work. I fucking wanted to smear his face over the concrete, and i had images in my brain, doing it. (he was a fucking smart arse weasel, i fucking wanted to end him) But yeah i walked away. Boring ending to the story.

Yea I speak enough Mandarin to get by (1/2 Chinese) but I can definitely see why not speaking Cantonese would be a problem if you worked there longer term. What is your job there currently?
