(pyonir, keep your mouth shut)

Okay, so everyday so far at my new job i've been bringing my own bag lunch to work becuase food in the cafeteria is kind of gross and expensive. So i figure bringing a lunch will save money and taste better.

well anyways, so i realized today as i was sitting around the cafeteria table with about 6 of my coworkers that i'm the only one there who didnt buy a lunch, and i felt kinda stupid with my little ham and cheese sandwhich wrapped in some plastic wrap.

so anyway.. i dont know if buying lunch to fit in with everybody else would actually make me feel cooler or not ( probably not) but i cant afford to anyways so its not an issue.

so do you bring your own lunch to work?.. please tell me i'm not alone.

and let me say this again.. pyonir, no help from the peanut gallery.

You should never feel funny because you are different. I bring lunch every day. It is far better and cheaper than I could get at any restaurant. My wife and I always make enough dinner for three. That way I have my previous night's dinner for lunch.

You choose what you spend your money on (and more importantly what not to spend money on). You should never be embarrassed for this any more than being the only friend who owns a PS2 or an XBOX in your group.

I try to bring my lunch, but I'm too lazy to get up earlier and make it before I go to work. Sometimes I bring a packet of Ramen noodles for lunch if I don't feel like going out to a restaurant, but most days I'll go somewhere to eat lunch (my building doesn't have a cafeteria).

same here(go home that is). ALthough I'm going to start bringing in a sub sandwich for lunch. I'll make one huge one on Sunday, cut it up into five pieces and bring it plus a bag of chips (or maybe an apple) and eat that.

Yes, I did. Except I usually brought leftovers from the night before or weekend.

Whatever I had was lightyears better than anything the crapateria could make. And I saved aboot $7 a day by not eating that stuff. The savings meant a healthy start on my Friday happy hour bar tab.

BTW, embrace your dorkness. It may be the most charming thing aboot you.

Fug'em. It's your $$. You spend $1.50 a day per meal, they probably spend upwards of $4.00. You save $2.50 a day, $12.50 a week, $50 a month, $600 a year. Just by "not looking cool".

Guess who gets a free pair of plane tickets to Hawaii in January? ;)

I bring my lunch to work atleast two days a week. When I go to the sub shop I end up dropping $10 there and I'm still hungry. Plus this way I get exactly what I want and how I want it.

I usually bring both lunch and dinner to work, since I end up working 11-8 shifts several days a week. Of course, I spend most of the time in the car, anyway, so no one sees me with my big ol' cooler with a couple of sandwiches and bottles of water.

Why? I've been bringing my own lunch to work for 2 years now. I've also always brought my own lunch to school. Why spend $5 a day on a meal when you make something far better for less?

Who cares what everyone else thinks? It's your lunch, you're saving some loot...all is well.

I get stared at like I'm an alien when I arrive in the mornings on my bike. Do I care? Nope. I like riding in. Is your lunch good? If so....f*ck 'em. Save your pennies and buy a new vid card or something. :D

nope I never bring my lunch. I usually eat with my 'elite lunch crew' in one of the surrounding restaurants. We avoid the cafeteria too if it makes you feel better. ;)

I stopped eating out for lunch when I realized I was dropping $50/week. It helps that my wife makes my lunches most of the time, but I actually eat healthier now that I bring my own lunch.

But I am still a dork, because I eat my lunch at my desk rather than in the break room like everyone else. I just don't feel comfortable socializing with all the middle-aged secretary types that congregate in there on a daily basis.

You do realize that you're effectively painting a big fat bullseye on your forehead, right? ;)
