HR stopped by and they had to let this guy go really fast. He wasn't a VP, maybe a Director. No questions asked, I just disabled his AD account and changed his account password. :(

Obviously not. They need all the pickle experts they can get at that company.

I'm calling the cops. This is getting out of hand. No, he probably knew pickles were cucumbers. But he definately didn't know he was going to be fired today. It was just so sudden. My desktop support guy walked into his office to grab his machine and he was still logged in. HR = Ninja.

why do you think they fired him so suddenly? he probably lied on his resume when asked the standard "what are pickles made of?" question, and they just found out (probably due to some posting on an internet forum) that the dude lied and really didn't know

Could anyone, out of sheer kindness, point me to the thread with the above mentioned cucumbers and brine?
Thank you.

Had that happen to a guy I worked pretty closely with, turns out he sent an e-mail through the company during work hours asking an administrative assistant what color her panties were.

My department director escorted him to the HR office, the police escorted him from the HR office, his keycard was revoked immediately his machine was hacked, and wiped within 24 hours... it was like he never existed.

A month or so later people from other departments (in the same building) were still asking what happened to him...

You think that's bad?

I get told about whole markets with dozens of people that are going to be closed down sometimes weeks or months before it happens and then have to interact with those people.

I always think of the movie The Green Mile "dead man walking" each time that happens.

But it comes with the job.

People simply disappeared, always during the night. Your name was removed from the registers, every record of everything you had ever done was wiped out, your one-time existence was denied and then forgotten. You were abolished, annihilated: vaporized was the usual word.

You should think of the movie "Dead Man Walking" instead of the Green Mile :)
