I feel guilty getting Chinese food for lunch...

SunnyD

Belgian Waffler
But really, I do feel guilty somewhat. For $4.95 I get the lunch special which includes fried rice, the entree, and a small bowl of wonton soup. For $4.95!!! How the hell do they make any money?

That being said, yes, I know a good portion of it is filler, but still it's like 3 pounds of food for $4.95! Tack on an egg roll and a tip, and I still walked out of there with far more than what most "numbered" meals cost at burger joints (and it tastes a hell of a lot better too).

never, ever, feel guilty about eating cheap chinese. its just. so. good.

and that is cheap as shit. Most Chinese places around here are between $8-10 for a quart of Beef Lo Mein. Which is dumb because i could just call PF Changs and get a quart of any of their basic dishes for like 11.99. or go straight to the amazing, fantastic, indescribably good BEEF SHORT RIBS for 13.99! sorry. i love those short ribs. mmm....pineapple rice....

except... PF Changs sucks.

I love chinese buffets. We used to go to one that was $5 for all you can eat. Add a drink and tip and it was $7.50. Some of the best food I ever ate.

I used to get that all the time in college... nine out of ten times, I needed a nap afterwards

Come on now, you can't be serious?

The food from many of the average Chinese restaurants, especially the buffets, are just selections they chose out of a catalog and threw in a fryer or whatever else.

Try a real Chinese restaurant. You'll pay a little more, but you get delicious food actually made on the premises and not from a box. There's a profound difference.

China Seafood Buffet on 28th St in Grand Rapids, MI. The place was great!

I'm sure the food wasn't the highest quality, but it was damn good. We did have a don't ask don't tell policy about what we ate there. Not everything was identifiable and we decided we probably didn't want to know what some of it was.

Fattening up for spring are we?

Funny you mention that, since I was just thinking that this is going to put a serious dampener on my plans to lose 20 pounds anytime soon.

there's a fortune cookie note stuck to one of our white board and it reads:

He likes to flirt, but towards you his intention is noble.

fortunately...

dont' feel guilty, it's not like they set their prices to lose money. you're doing them a favor. i wish i had a super cheap chinese place near me.

Have everyone read their fortune cookie out loud, and add "in bed" to the end of it. It is a good ice breaker at a business dinner.
