I feel cheated by Rome Total War

GoingUp

Lifer
Spent the last couple of days taking over Rome and getting all 50 provinces captured. I capture 50 of them and then the game ends. WTF! :| 🙁 I know that I beat the game but at least let me keep playing. I wanted to take over the rest of the ancient world 🙁

I felt cheated after I paid $40/50 for this game that everyone was raving about only to find out that the AI is the worst I have seen in 5 years.

It's supposed to let you have the option to keep playing.. maybe you need the patch?

I own the game but I used the crack so I dont have to put the CD in all the time. Maybe I should patch it back then.

Hmmm....

It plays the vicrtory video then only lets me click a check mark sending me to the main menu.

I believe if you do a quicksave right before the victory text comes up, you might be able to load that game and continue playing. I've never tried it because I always just end it at that point, but I remember hearing that somewhere.

Just do the custom scenarios and send a bunch of elite elephants across a bridge against a TON of the weakest units.

Isn't that AOEII?

No, the Carths have war elephants, and some other race do too... I forgot which.

Hmmm I can't get the 1.3 patch to install at all. I'll try the quicksave to be able to keep playing. I have my game saved right before I take a british city. I'll have to conquer it and then quicksave.

You might also want to try the Rome: Total Realism mod now that you've beaten the game. I installed it a few weeks back, and am again addicted. It also supposedly improves the AI substantially.

I'll have to look into it! I tried the quicksave and it worked! Got rid of the Scipii. Now I have to take care of the Brutii. They always have an army of 600+ so its a real pain in the ass. You fight a large army and then have to try to make it to the next city with half the army you started with. I'll get those rat bastards though.

Goodtimes 🙂. If you like large armies, then the Barbarian Invasion expansion might be for you. I hear there's an ability for certain factions to mobilize. All your cities empty out and become a giant horde.

Nice. I'll have to look into that!

Only 14 provinces to go and then I get them all. Just the Greeks, some rebels and the orange colored clan. I have about 550K in cash and I keep making 75K per round. Only thing thats delaying me is marching my armies around, especially in the north where the roads are so crappy.

woohoo I did it! Finally got all 101. Took for goddamned ever. That one rebel camp at the very top of the map kept kicking me out after one turn. I always had some other province rebelling at the same time too. Add that to the fact that there are no roads, and it takes 10 turns just to get an army to the city. All 101 provinces in 14AD.

Selucids>all

if you can manage to keep them alive (which isn't really all that hard the way bribery goes, and the seleucids are cash machines what with farming income bonus and then taking rhodes for shipping income bonus).

the latest patch is supposed to improve things
