Thank you for your [e-mail/letter/call] to the Cadillac [internet/mail/phone] Response Centre. Thank you, too, for your comment about the [vehicle_in_question] advertising touting it to be the most [powerful/best looking/highest quality] SUV on the planet. By (other_manufacturers) own admission, their (other_manufacturers_model) is not an SUV but an (insert_model_type). Their own (website/propoganda/brochures) state that it is the first (insert_vehicle_type). This puts the (manufacturers_model) in a different class than the [vehicle_in_question]

We would also point out that the [vehicle_in_question] is constructed using [insert_construction_technique]; the [other_manufacturers_vehicle] is of [insert_different_manufacturing_technique]. Again, these vehicles are in a different class. Because of this, Cadillac stands by their claims regarding the [vehicle_in_question].

We hope that this [information/reply/insult] is [helpful/insulting]. Thanks again for sharing your comments with us at Cadillac.

Uni-body? WTH does that matter? Most Jeep Cherokees are uni-body therefore not allowing them to have body lifts (yes off subject) but the point being a uni-body design has nothing to do with it "NOT" being an SUV.

I too agree with Cadillac and am impressed that they had a "Decent" answer for you.

The body-on-frame vs unibody construction is definitely a difference. The fact that BMW doesn't call their thing an SUV, well, that's their own doing. If they did, you could email Cadillac again and ask one more time. hehehehe.

PS: The torque thing IS a better example. But I think even more important (And am always pissed that this measurement doesn't exist) would be the area underneath the torque curve for 0-redline for the two cars. I suspect that would give a totally accurate representation of power, whereas peak HP/Torque does not.

Now, here's someone with REAL knowledge. Who can use the 225 hp came out of those puny engines when it peaks at 8000rpm? Give me torque anyday.

Actually, Cadillac is technically wrong.

The Lamboorghini LM002 (or "Rambo") is the world's most powerful *production* SUV
(to my knowledge) with its 5.2L 450HP Countach-derived V-12 engine. So if you're
willing to look beyond BMWs marketing bullsh!t, the Escalade is merely the most
powerful *current production* SUV. A title it will only enjoy for a few months anyways,
since the blasphamous 450Hp Porsche Cayenne is coming out of the closet sometime
in '02.

Chances are that some "nossed" Honda CRV is the most powerful SUV on the planet.

;)

AaaHAAAAA, good call.... anyway, the Escalade is gonna win again here and = the more power

OHC motors no matter how much the kiddies rave for it does have a pay-off as everything in life does, OHV motors will hold a longer and more flat torque curve. GM released the 8.1 litre for one reason, it doesn't have much of a peak torque # above their old 454, but it has a band thats far higher, it's idle torque will compete with many vehicle's peak.

No, somebody who needs the room of a mini-van, but don't want to drive a mini-van.

<< The Escalade has more Torque...so I'd call it the more powerful of the two. >>

But the X5 4.6i would handily whip the Escalade in acceleration, handling, braking, wind noise, comfort, on-pavement ride, etc. It wouldn't even be a contest. Afterall, neither of these vehicles will EVER hit the trail. So much for being "more powerful"

At least the BMW KNOWS what it is. The Tahoe, err Escalade is still having a bit of an identity crisis ;)

yeah, the most dirt those two "SUV"'s will take is the splash of coffee on the door when someone is in a hurry running out of a starbucks when late for work.

Well the important one the Suburban atleast knows or knew anyway, it's had over 50 years to figure it out, money corrupts everything tho. The older Suburban's were 10X more functional then ANY SUV on the road today as you could and WOULD take them off road, like mentioned, all these clowns today won't even know the feeling of Washboard :disgust:

I take my truck off-road (I made body armor for it tho) I've been 4x4'n since I was 16 myself and before then all the time as a passanger, I can't give it up even for a new truck, so I slap on the vinyl magents I made that takes about 45 seconds to put on and go, prevents all "pinstriping" ;)

Yep, Lambo LM002 was more powerful than either X5 or Caddy, but LM002 was ORV, not SUV :p
