Assilimator - OK OK, I'll stay.

Well, I hope this isn't a tease like the SETI accelerator. :)

^^^ BUMP ^^^

We're over two weeks now with no response from Anand/Anandtech. Is there any truth to the hinted support? If so, why haven't we heard anything? For that matter, why haven't we heard anything either way. Are we going to persue this or just let it die?

Whatever... I guess we should just get over thinking Anand, or any of the Anandtech team give a sh[/b]it about us....
Seti is the red-headed stepchild of Team Anandtech...
(again, sorry Orange Kid and Narzy)

Guys,
Even though I don't do SETI, you do have supporters on TA. I even recruited a person to the SETI team. During the initial discussions about a Team Anandtech Distributed website, it was agreed that all team projects would get equal billing.

Yes, it is taking much longer than I thought to put the website together, and yes, except for the link on the page to RC5, Anand isn't supporting the distributed projects much. RC5 didn't get a mention when they recently took over 2nd place.

This is as much as I know on the status of the website: We do have the domain name registered, and a design contest was held and a layout chosen. Hmmm, I think I'll post a request for an update on the TA website.

Hang in there, you know the old saying, when the going gets tough, the tough grab duct tape!

I agree that we shouldn't worry too much about the lack of Anands support but that doesn't mean we should let him off the hook for not answering us:|.
He's had more than enough time to answer ,I think we should ALL E mail him (politely) asking him to respond ,then he'll have to answer to get some peace! ;)

BTW I 2nd what RaySun2Be says ,ref support from other TA teams

Yes I agree Office Boy it's going to be hard to move ahead without any front page support from Anand.....Maybe all the PC SETI people here need to start thinking of moving the team over to ARS? The silence we are recieving is not golden:(

This thread is about to go to archive isn't it? :(

Sorry, it's only a few weeks old, I thought that was a June, not July.

I'll second what RaySun2Be said, and add some :D. I donated a Katmai P3 to the SETI effort (it will be living in networkman's herd) and I am following your rise up the charts too, even if I am focused on RC-5/OGR myself. I'd hate to see you guys split after climbing this far, and I think that we can get Anand and Co. to change the "RC5" link to "Distributed Computing," especially now that the Team Anandtech web box is up and running. Personally, when I got into distributed computing, Anand was using his previous design and it was a link called "RC5 Team." I thought (ignorant me) that this must refer to Win2k Release Candidate 5 (yes, I KNOW, there never was a Release Candidate 5!). So calling it "Distributed Computing" might be a better idea anyway!

The only question left unanswered is, "why doesn't Anand reply to emails about it." Don't know what to say there, but aside from that, we should at least have equal treatment once the link is "Distributed Computing" and leads to the TA web box.

I seem to be famous for being wrong, hope I haven't stuck my foot in it too badly by saying this. You guys rock, all the more because you have to fight your way up. I look forward to some more of you coming out of your shells and joining the IRC channel! :)

Thought I might be able to offer some advice:). Which email address did you guys use? Hopefully not "Anand@anandtech.com". I think he uses Hotmail, lol. Try "Anand@hotmail.com".;) J/K

As for spammage like that, I wouldn't do it. At the most, send him another email with a link to this thread and maybe also the handle signatures of everyone involved in the thread...

ETC.
ETC.

Ask him if he would show up in the forums, that would be interesting:D. But yes, I believe you guys deserve at LEAST a respnse. I can imagine how busy the guys must be, but we all support him!

I would really like to see more AnandTech people workin on SETI. If I didn't have my heard of Pentium POS editions running RC5, I'd help out :). AnandTech should dominate SETI too ;). Good Luck!

Don't forget to sign me in that email also :D.

Just a reminder what it says under the title of this forum.

Discuss RC5, SETI@Home, OGR, Prime95, and other distributed computing topics here

Although I've stuck to the original RC5 project I started with, I consider the Seti people (and other DC projects) to be an important part of Team AnandTech - Distributed Computing. I would think Anand would have spoke up way before now if he did not want his name associated with SETI or other projects. I have to assume he just is too busy to give the team the attention they deserve. Come to think about it, when's the last time RC5 got mentioned? There wasn't a post on the main site when we jumped up to the #2 spot in RC5 was there?

How is it that the mods or zuni or someone on the staff hasn't mentioned this thread to Anand? The Mayor of my city at least shows up in a chat room for a confab with the citizens at least once week.Anand is busy and we all apreciate the work he does, but this borders on rude.Last year at Comdex,I didn't get the impression he would ignore nor overlook his website. That doesn't wash.

Anand,Please respond.

Yes, this is getting very rude of Anand. He could atleast pop in here and say he's sorry for answering us so slowly but he's been really busy and he won't support SETI because it's against his religion or something. RC5 people, I do realize he doesn't mention you guys very much either, but atleast he seems to reply to your e-mails. :)

He hasn't replied to my emails and I have the store to talk to him about.I certainly don't see that he has a preference for RC5 over OGR or SETI or anything.I could be wrong.I need to now where to mail him his Team Anandtech Distributed Computing shirt, but I can't do it until I hear where he wants it shipped and what size.
I think he is a nice enough person, and once he is informed of the displeasure felt in this thread about his lack of communication,he will do the right thing.
(It's against his religeon to support SETI?.HUH?)

Actually, he only really responds to Virge's emails. I'd imagine Anand gets a lot of SPAM mail a day... He may have deleted the original message without realizing what it was ... I know I've done that by accident before on a heavy spam day.

Anyway, I'd like to say here, that I'm proud of Team Anandtech. What we've done, we've done through our own efforts. I think it speaks volumes about the high caliber of people in this forum that we still attract the amount of people that we do.

Remember, there is NO other team that contributes to all the different projects on the scale that TEAM ANANDTECH does! We are the greatest group of fanatical geeks around, IMHO!

Tripleshot, sorry, I thought he was replying to RC5 e-mails. It sounds like he isn't paying attention to the whole team now.

A while back someone had mentioned that they thought possibly discussing alien life was against Anand's religion or something, so that's where I got that from. :)

>>>Maybe all the PC SETI people here need to start thinking of moving the team over to ARS? <<<

You gotta be kidding? :(
OK so we would climb faster with front page support but we are & have been climbing without it ,were still gaining new members each week.
I think we have a great team here ,all that would be lost/swalloed up if we joined arsetech.
I dont think we should allow Anands (sofar) indifference to split up our team

Besides, I think we could take ars out if we had linkage on the home page. Anandtech is definately a more friendly place

Assimilator1...

It was just an idea. We have support here in this forum but nothing like the help that is over on ARS.

Maybe if the team departed all at one time someone would notice?
