Whatever reason Anand/Anandtech has for not supporting SETI should've been explained long ago. Even if it was something like, "I'm not comfortable with it due to personal reasons" or "I don't think it's a worthwhile project" or "I think it would detract from the rc5 team". I think most of us would understand that this is his website and he can support whatever DC team he wants. What I can not understand is being totally ignored after several polite attempts with Email and numerous requests in forum threads. It's been over 10 days now. Surely Anand has seen either the Email or this thread. There may be a valid reason for not supporting us but there is no excuse for ignoring us.

I'm not a big fan of the "Toms Hardware" website but if they're starting a SETI team that will be supported I'm very interested. I haven't visited Tom's forums in a while. Are they still Delphi? I didn't like the layout last time I was there. Oh well, hopefully Anand will respond but I'm not holding my breath... :(

Are people going to bail out on the team just because anand doesn't support us... Why? Doesn't that just make a bigger challenge for us to stand up to? Well anyway I for one would like to say (as I've read here before) that what's making me stick with anandtech is THIS FORUM and THE PEOPLE HERE... Anyways I'd like to stick with this team for you guys and I hope you won't all bail out because of Anand:(

(Not that I don't agree he should support us tho')

rleach2 - Yea, I'm serious. I'm going to work on Tom to see if he would be willing to support us. His site is the most visited hardware site on the net. Additionally, I like his reviews/content and have been an avid reader for years. If I start a team there, we should kick total arse assuming he will plug us on the main page.

I joined team anandtech for 2 reasons:

- Cool members that are helpful, intelligent and informed
- STATS, STATS, AND MORE STATS. I love tons of stats to monitor the progress of my search.

Tom be willing, I hate his Delphi message board...definately is suck... I would be willing to put up an Ultimate Bulletin Board on my website for us to exchange info. I would even allow staples coupons ;)...LMFAO.

I know this talk may hurt a few, but damn it, I want to pass all those Artbell people with whimpy, girly man PC's.

This may not be much...but didn't you guys notice the Seti icons to choose from? That shows that, at the very least, someone here is listening. Please don't bail....

BurntKooshie: A new Seti icon? Hmmmm... You may be onto something. Maybe this is the beginning of some support? It's small but it's a start. What we *really* need is a link to a SETI FAQ on the homepage. It'd be nice to be able to tell prospective recruits to go to Anandtech.com and click on the Seti link/icon to join our team.

badthad: You said that you joined SETI Team Anandtech for 2 reasons: 1. "Cool members that are helpful, intelligent and informed" & 2. "STATS, STATS, AND MORE STATS". We still have that on this team, better than ever if you ask me. In fact, the only reason I'm still here is the dedicated members. All we need is more members to make a stronger team.

Tom's Hardware had a Seti team before AnandTech did. It was when I saw Tom's team that I brought it up here and asked if AnandTech were going to have a SETI team also. While we were discussing the pro's and con's of having a SETI team, Vapor just went ahead and started it.

The fact that Tom's team is nowhere in sight may be a clue as to how much support it got from Tom.

Anand may not support the team like everyone would want but with this forum he really does support all TA distributed teams.

Let's give Anand a chance before we bail. I'll chill for a couple weeks cause I know he's a busy kid. But after that....I just don't know, especially with a heavy hitter like rleach backing me up. His fkg heard RULES. I saw him start AFTER me and then proceed to the #5 position in a very short time.

Maybe I'll start a new team and only let in people that can produce min 5-10 WU's a day??? Team Heavy Hitters...hehehehehehe ;)

rleach - You don't like my music? Just turn down your speakers bud :) Actually, my site is undergoing a major change to badthad.com. If I can just become "unaddicted" to Quake 3 net play....

Whilst its true that Anands support would boost membership ,his absence is no real reason to leave ,

Just to throw my two cents in here...

I believe Virge told me that when the team web page/server is completely ready, Anand said he will change the current RC5 click button to something about Team Anandtech or distributed computing, and have it point directly to the team webpage, which WILL have a full SETI section!

Personally, I can't wait to have a central location to get my complete team stats fix!

7/26/00 TLC Welcomes More Members!
Team Lamb Chop had another run of members joining up for the team yesterday. There were 40+ (read 12878 new WU's) members who decided to join. Top of the new members is wesley barnes who debuted in the #18 spot, joining with 8700+ WUs. Welcome One and ALL!

7/24/00 We have had quite a bit of additions today to the team. At the time of today's update there were a total of 54 new members to the team. Welcome Aboard!

Hi Guys,

been busy lately...

Crashed my motorbike... broke some ribs...
Got stolen the next day.,,
Moved house 4 days after that...
I'm off work for 2 weeks and haven't got my home PC's set up yet, so it's tricky staying in touch....

No reply from Anand the Ignorant.......

I'll check in again in a few days
