My specs are:
Asus a7n8x deluxe rev2.0
barton 2500xp (running at default 11x166)
corsair xms twin 256x2=512mb ram
300w psu
Vantec Aeroflow and AS3

My diode temp is in the low 50s at idle, and gets up in the low/mid 60s at load (according to motherboard monitor 5). Even when I put a Galaxy floor fan right next to my case blowing in air on the highest setting, the idle temp only got down to about 49. I have the sides of the case off, and I have moved the PSU away from the HSF, and have it outside the case, by itself. So there is nothing impeding the flow of air from the heatsync.

I used a small amount of AS3, followed the instructions on the AS3 site, I'm sure there is nothing on the Die or HS (hair, lint, etc.), I'm sure the HS is on the right way (the imprint of the AS3 goop from the proc. Die is right on the middle part of the copper insert in the HS), and the fan is definitely working (5500+ RPM). I have taken off, cleaned off, and reseated the HS 3 times now, and the temps didnt go down.

Now, is there ANYTHING else that could be giving me these high temps? I have talked to other people who have the same hs and cpu and there diode temps are in the high 30s at idle and mid 40s at load.

You and me both... I have a similar problem with my NF7-S and my 1700+ My comp idles at 50C even with 4 case fans, an 8045 and a 50cfm sunon fan on the cpu.

Could be your mainboard is reporting temps incorrectly. My friend has an A7N8X-Deluxe with a 2700+ and it idles around 48 load 53-54 with an SLK-800A using a Panaflow L1A 80mm fan and _NO_ case fans (only exhaust is through his powersupply), he refuses to deal with the noise of case fans.

Are you sure the HS is flat on the core? If it isn't you will get bad temps? What are your normal case temps? Also, what BIOS are you using? I know 1005 reports temps a few degrees lower than others.

My motherboard temp is 28 degrees celcius. I am 99.9% sure that the HS is on flush. I am using the 1004 uber bios.
