I don't understand why Anime fans are seen as nerdy or socially inept...

tofu tastes like toe jam so it should just be called toejam. calling something fu instead of jam doesn't make it taste any better.

Research shows that 1 out of every 7.756 movies you watch are anime movies. STOP ROUNDING UP.

I have watched maybe 50 full series during the past year, alot of them marathoned (25 episodes in 1 sitting and such), yet, Im as far away as possible from being an "otaku"

I dont give a damn about the dolls or posters or whatever merchandise there is, I just enjoy watching anime, thats all

I hate how people of a certain type tend to have these things in common, which cause everyone else that likes the same to be labeled as well, and of course it happens with everything not just anime

Another one is, I love metal, 95% of what I listen to is pretty heavy stuff the normal person would run away from, yet, I dont drink, I dont smoke, I hate piercings and tatoos, and all those things are associated with 99% of metalheads

Why cant people just like something because they like it? Why do they have to bring everything else along?

/small rant

I see pics of peoples rooms filled with all these anime dolls and yep, that means the person is socially inept. Now, if they had Boba Fett figurines instead then that would be acceptable.

But being a weaboo is no better than being a wigger and must be treated accordingly.

otaku ftl....

Wow... are you my long lost twin brother? This post exactly describes me. Reps.

I watch anime movies, I have a 3TB server thats still growing and its filled mostly filled with anime. I own a couple shirts for anime (Death Note, etc.). I guess I'm an anime freak?

I got Burberry sunglasses and have owned Nike Shoes (though currently New Balance). I guess that makes me hood?

I got 1 laptop, 1 desktop, 1 server in use along with 3 desktops in the background for whatever purpose and a closet full of computer parts from a Pentium 133, to EDO RAM etc. etc. I guess that makes me a nerd?

I got Stephen King novels and an Okami video game art book. Does that make me cultured?

I own Cabelas products ranging from fishing shirts, $400 Quantum Reels, expensive graphite fishing rods and lures. I guess that makes me a fisherman?

I have a gf and get sex regularly whether from her or "female company" from other girls at times. I guess that makes me a "free spirit"?

I believe in marriage when one is ready and I believe in head of household and do not believe in equality of male and female neither physically or in capability. Some things just aren't ideal for men to do and the same goes for women. I guess that makes me old fashioned?

Anytime this question comes up there is only one answer. You are you. No one gets along with everyone. I don't give a shit if you have bed covers with naked questionably aged anime girls painted on them. I don't care if you have the Star Trek bridge reproduced in your living room. I don't care if you read Twilight, Stephen King novels, Temeraire, or any other set books. I don't care if you drive riced out civics, massive donks, trucks that look like they need two license plates (like Tonka Toys).

Who you are is who you are. If you have a compatible personality then I will hang with you, otherwise we simply won't be around each other. It's that simple. THERE IS NO RIGHT OR WRONG IN YOUR PERSONALITY.

I'm a simple college student and I know this. Except for someone with a very self-centered attitude why would there need to be any other answer?

It still sounds like you're a "because it's anime" type of guy. Do you browse the anime section and pick something because it looks cool, or do you hear about something by trusted word of mouth (not another anime-lamer) or reviews? That is what differentiates the anime-lamer from the "enjoys stuff that's good regardless of whether it can be classified as anime or not" kinda consumer.

I like anime, and I browse anime looking for something to watch, but I rent based on reviews and type of story. I like the more mature anime, with more intelligent storylines and developed characters. I don't like mindless action or silly storylines.

hentai?

Anime is not an "art form..."

Anime is as much an art form as video games are a sport.

Depends on the anime to some extent. If we are talking tv series and most manga I agree. However anime movies released by companies like studio Gibli definetely have a lot of art in them!

That doesn't even make sense.

Ok.

Anime is just barely an art form if we stretch the concept of art to include any mostly pointless but creative activity which results in a physical manifestation of media.
Video games are just barely a sport if we stretch the concept of sport to include any mostly pointless but physical activity which results in a physical manipulation of reality.

Ok look your going to have to cut me some slack its 30c here I'm drunk and trying to work out how edit avchd files :|

Well then I suppose that does make me an anime freak in your eyes 🙂 I'm personally glad that obviously most are more rational minded than yourself but at the same time I hold it against no one. They are all free to feel what they want to feel about others 🙂 Your opinion that is rational to yourself may seem silly to others, just as my opinion of myself certainly isn't valued the same in your opinion.

I don't think it's anime, it's the obsession with manufacutred realities. Liking Anime is one thing, making it your life is another. Obviously we're all free to do as we please, but anime is just one of the carriers of that disease.

In most anime, its the girl who likes the guy and confesses. It is never that way in real life. How many girls have asked you out ever? Its always the guys doing the asking!!!!!!!!

I would agree with this, except that one of my really good friends is a huge anime fan, and he's not socially awkward in any way, you'd never know he was a 'nerd' unless you knew him really well. He doesn't hide it, he is just a really cool guy.
