Anyone can cook a Steak. It's easier to make than Mac and Cheese. You want something more exotic, like Curried Chicken(exotic to me anyway), then it's far easier to just go out for it.

We can make a meal at home that is incredible. But it is a lot of work, prep and clean up. But once you get to 4 and 5 star restaurants the whole experience is nice to have and I readily admit I like being waited on/served. Not to mention tasting ingredients and combinations you would have never thought of.

There a place that makes out of this world mushroom soup but they reduce it for 16 or more hours. Not something I feel like messing with at home.

You do understand there is an entire culture of food enthusiasts (I hate saying foodies), right? This could anything from eating chicken feet at the local Asian market to Sichuan cuisine, none of which I can guarantee you that you know how to cook at home. Many people in this culinary group eat alone just to give others an idea of what to expect.

Some people are enthusiastic about food. I am, and I actively seek out new places with regularity. It doesn't have to be expensive or about "fine dining"; it could be about the simplest street food that's absolutely delicious. My favorite tends to be things like Korean BBQ, Mexican tacos (chorizo, carnitas, etc.) or whatever else.

Sure, you can make Outback, Sizzler or Black Angus quality food at home, but I don't consider that "dining out," that's fast food.

True. A lot of people do (consider that as dining out) though.

that`s a stoopid statement.....

3 kids, homework, sports activities, etc.. sometimes it is nice to have a break. Plus Logans steakhouse you can get two meals for $13.99 and kids eat for $1.99. That is cheaper than McDonalds.

Either you are an incredible cook or you eat at terrible restaurants. I suspect you are not that great of a cook AND you eat at terrible restaurants. Double whammy.

I tend to agree, but it's also nice to head out and have someone else deal with preparation, cooking, and cleaning up. I see going out to eat as a nice treat and a change of pace and when I go out I tend to pick places that make food I don't know how to make at home.

This.

I hate cooking, I hate cleaning, and I'm not terribly critical about how great my food tastes. Therefore, a restaurant, regardless of whether it's fast food or sit-down or upscale, almost always tastes better than home-cooked.
