Sypho-Dias = another name for Lord Maul perhaps? I could see Sidious sending him to create a clone army... but then how would the jedi know that name? hmmmmm

darth sidious = palpatine = the emperor(senator, then supreme chancellor, then dictator, then emperor with the military loyal to him, then he dissolves the senate just before episode 1 happens). its the same actor (ian mcdermit) using the darkside, he is manipulating everyone. he is in control of both armies, jengo fett, and dooku/tyrannus. i suppose he gets anakin to kill tyrannus in the next movie. heck, he can probably see far enough into the future that who he really wants is luke, not anakin (though anakin's return to the light is completely unexpected)

sypho dias was a jedi master. either he was a hidden sith agent or there were changelings pretending to be him

Did you all notice the line of succession in episode 2?

Anakin is obi wan's padawan.
Obi wan was Qui Gon's padawan.
Qui gon was Dooku's padawan.
Dooku was Yoda's padawan.

So why Obi wan thought he even stood a chance against Dooku seems ridiculous to me. Why was Yoda and Windu sent to take him out? Yoda took he sweet time, that b1tch! :p

don't understand what you said though, you said Amidala goes missing but she ends up with Owen and Beru. why would that happen per say?

Okay, it's a major spoiler, but here goes: DO NOT READ IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW ABOUT STAR WARS: III -
.

.
.
Padme (pregnant) goes to Dagobagh near the end of part III and gives birth to Luke and Leia. It decided that Obi-Wan will take Luke to Tatoonie to Owen and Beru and he'll stay there to watch over him - and Padme will go to Alderann with Leia. She stays with Leia for a period of time before leaving her under the protective care of Bail Organa. In the Version v.2 of "Return of the Jedi" - which will be Lucas' "final" take on the "Star Wars Saga" we'll see Padme still alive on Corusant after the fall of the Empire...

That's simple, really.
It was done to make the "Star Wars: Jedi Unleashed" board game work.
If Yoda didn't take so long to get there in the movie, his slow progression wouldn't make sense in the game.

It's all marketing :)

UberNeuman,

If Padme is still alive, how come Leia said she's dead in Jedi? Remember, Luke asks Leia "what do you remember about your mother?" and Leia says something to the effect of "Not very much, she died when I was very young" ... I mean, she could be wrong about that, but I'd be pretty surprised if they made it so she's still alive.

BTW- for anyone who doubts that the Emperor/Darth Sidious/Palpatine are the same person. In ROTJ, the Emperor is referred to as Palpatine. I dont remember if thats in the actual movie of if the action figures just had his name as "Emperor Palpatine" ... But he was called Palpatine back in 1983! :)

Portman is due to film some extra scenes for "ROJv.2". The dialouge for "ROJ" is:

LUKE
Leia... do you remember your mother? Your
real mother?

LEIA
Just a little bit. She died when I was very
young.

LUKE
What do you remember?

LEIA
Just...images, really. Feelings.

LUKE
Tell me.

LEIA
(a little surprised at his insistence)
She was very beautiful. Kind, but...sad.
(looks up) Why are you asking me all this?

He looks away.

LUKE
I have no memory of my mother. I never knew
her.

:

I think that she was told her mother was dead, to protect her from the Emperor and Darth Vader.

they could easily add flashbacks, but having padme alive at the end probably wouldn't be addable. perhaps standing with obi wan, yoda, and anakin at the end?

Neomadhatter,

I believe that only the Jedi which "disappear" are able to re-appear as a ghost. Remember Obi-wan turned into thin air, so did Yoda... We don't really know about Anakin, but if we assume so, Qui-Gon definitely did not disappear.

I dont know any "official" details, but some people have said it requires you knowing you're going to die. Anakin knew he was going to die, Obi-Wan knew, and Yoda knew ... Qui-Gon never saw it coming.

umm, qui-qon was burned when he died and so was vader. yoda and obi-wan disappeared. so anakin technically had died and not disappeared.

Sypho Dias can't be palpatine because obi-wan said he died 10years ago.
In Star Wars, Jedi always say so-in-so died, but really it just means that person went to the darkside.
Like Luke's father was supposedly dead, killed by Vadar.

all we see from rotj is vader's suit being burned, who knows if his body disappeared or not. why burn just a suit? a ritual thingy for the one who actually restored balance of the force (at the cost of billions of innocent lives).

One question about AOTC:

When Obi Wan and Anakin were fighting that Dooku guy - Dooku barely scratched Obi with his lightsaber and his pant leg was soaked in blood. Anakin gets his arm cut off and you see some orange gunk spill out but no blood. WTH?!

Perhaps in the short term but in the long stretch the rebalancing saved trillions more. But who truly knows the Will of the little microscopic organisms that live in your cells? They don't always share the info...neither does Lucas.

well, how about, palpatine was never a member of the jedi or the jedi council. so Sypho Dias can't be palpatine. dooku by your theory maybe. but not palpatine. but i didn't see dooku in the jedi council anyways in phantom menace. they need to fix that.
