Edit : No one needs $150+ jeans, they're buying it as it makes them feel better about themselves, like they're worth something.

Same with some geeks wasting money on Raptors in RAID 0 , 99% of them wont even get any benefit out of it, but if they can place it in their signature, it makes them feel better.

I have a Raptor yet it isn't in my signature.

and what, did I offend you, are you one of those 'tards who buys those jeans that are already worn looking, I apologize that I found out you don't have a personality, and you have to compensate by buying jeans that make it look like you do.

You apparently cannot type fast, nor read/comprehend fast enough. You obviously make points that come out of nowhere. Since you haven't been here for all that while, read my AF thread. I'll tell you that I see quality, not a price tag. I've called quite a few trends, but have never bought a single A&F product. People bs that AF is expensive, that their worn out jeans are garbage, which they are, but that isn't entirely true.

If you wanna be a moron, I really don't wear jeans, mostly slacks. Second, I don't shop at the younger places like AF/AE/etc, but moreso at Lord&Taylor, Bloomingdales, Saks/Off Saks. Why? Some of the best brands for decent prices. You won't really find a pair of ripped up jeans there, since that is not their style, nor mine- I am a little conservative when I dress. I had this entire argument where buying AF ripped up jeans for $100 isn't that bad, considering the fact you are buying a brand name, not jeans. But most pimple farmer ATOTers cannot understand that.

Regardless, you sound like a 14 year old kid in a basement, playing Counterstrike.

that being said, I usually pimp Lucky jeans I can find at outlet's and whatnot. 30-50 for Lucky is alot better than 80-100 for.

I'm also whoring ebay for se7en jeans hahaha. i need to see what this hype is about.

fyi, 99.99% of designer (7, paper denim, diesel) jeans on ebay are fake

You should clarify that 99.99% of ALL designer goods on eBay are fake.

thx for the heads up ;)

hm someday we might realize how superficial clothes are.

however i do understand that wealthy people don't have the time to find good things for cheap. they would rather pay more and *know* it will be good. i can see 100$ jeans fitting well, feeling luxurious, and made with utmost quality and materials to command 2-5x the price of most. i guess most of us guys just see them as basic utilitarian objects. now 500-1000$ for jeans, i think everyone would agree thats just ridiculous.

btw, i used to be into labels and looks all the time, but now i just see clothes as functional and give them low priority, albeit enough for the proper occasion to look humble and nice =D

To the person who "saved" $75 by buying the jeans a Filene' - Do you realize that the jeans aren't worth even close to what you paid for them?

Would you like to buy my pencil? You can have it for $5. That's 95% off the $100 retail price!

this thread is awesome.

the fact that people can't see past their own opinions/priorties/fashion tastes/income levels/etc is pretty sad.

"i think it's stupid, so it must be."

Fashion is very important in this world because without it, the world would be an unpleasant place to live. I just bought my girlfriend a $400 wallet from Marc Jacobs and now she looks even more lovely.

Vote for most pompous/disturbing post ever. You remind me of a preppy teenage girl and/or Paris Hilton.

I used to buy sub $20 jeans too... Until my lady friends commented that they looked like crap on me. Let's face it... Women have expensive tastes in fashion, but they do seem to know what looks good on a guy and what doesn't. We're more concerned about fit and function than looks, and ladies have the added advantage of knowing if jeans make your butt look good when you're out wearing them :)

Hell, I STILL refused to spend more than $20 on jeans after getting nagged about it, so I ended up getting a bunch of designer label jeans for Christmas this year. I still think that they're overpriced, but I gotta admit that these DKNY, Express, and Perry Ellis jeans look a hell of a lot cooler than my old Wranglers.

dosen't mean you have to pay $200, and the girls that notice your wearing designer jeans don't know that either. Girls appreciate some of the smaller things that we don't think about, and designer jeans is one of them, any amout of brownie points with a girl your trying to get with is nice. I know $70 is still an exorbitant amount to pay but its still 65% off

If you really want to brag about getting with a "girl" (and a call them girl as a woman wouldn't care about such trivial things) who cares if you are wearing $200 JEANS then you might want to have your priorities re-evaluated.

I can understand spending good money on a nice suit, a nice overcoat, leather jacket and many other clothing items...but jeans I will never understand, they are a casual item plain and simple, something I feel people should wear in the professional world at most two times a week (namely sat and sun)...I personally own one pair of jeans in ok condition, cost $35 from LL. Bean and another which I use for chores that were less money from the same store...if I am going out then I will wear a nice pair of pants and a decent shirt.

The thing I love about my wife is that she would slap me for spending $200 on jeans, heck even $60 is crazy....she used to like Coach handbags which were pricey but now with all of the young punks getting them from their families the allure of working for nice status items has worn off, nowadays too many people are given this crap and feel they are entitled to it instead of working for it.

I personally think that 220$ is a little to much than i could spend, but i be they wear like iron and will not fall apart after 3 washes.
And, it is true that the more expensive the clothing, the better it will, fit, fall, lay on the body.

Abercrombie clearly contradicts this notion, there is a clear example of inflated cost for poor quality with much of their clothing barely lasting the season and comming from the factory with tears and holes in the name of fashion.

Now if we were talking about good clothing manufacturers such as Ben Silver, Brooks Brothers, Joseph Bank, Talbots and others a point could be made, but much of this overpriced designer garbage is simply that.....

I wear and still wear mostly Levis. They last long and fit comfortably for me.(notice that I didn't say they looked good on me) However, yes, the lady friends are right. To sum up the goal of jeans in a social setting you just have to take a line out of The Apprentice season 2.

It's all about the butt.

I have a pair of Lucky jeans for $100 and a pair of Banana Republic for 60 something. Couldn't find any other jeans that fit me well. Wearing the jeans lower took a few times to get use to but I can live with that. I only wear the jeans if I am going out and not around the house but women really do know what looks good and what doesn't. I have received several comments (all women, thank you very much) about my jeans. I admit to having very little comprehension of style.

One downside besides the price. Pulling a pair of designer jeans off of a chick is a lot harder than the loose fitting jeans.

taking into consideration that a majority of ATOT members still wear shorts with black dress socks and sandals, i am no tht least bit surprised about the comments made in this thread.

I don't see how you can make a blanket statement that designer jeans fit better... That depends entirely on the individual.

Plus, most of my closet is from Express since their dress shirts and dress slacks are awesome....that's where 90 percent of my clothes come from.
How many more times can you say that they fit you so well?

i do think $100 is pretty steep for jeans. i dont think $50 is too bad though. some jeans are just really really good. for cheap jeans that still fit decently and are pretty good, i like unionbay (believe it or not). lucky jeans are pretty good too. its all about the fit.
