If you aren't hip then just go ahead and wear cheap ugly clothes. We're not looking down at you at all although we'd love to see you try a bit to come to our level of sense in style and fashion. I personally like to fit in and look attractive with my fabulous trendsetting friends in fashion and could never tolerate such garbage in our groups who can't spend $100 on a piece of wear. Fashion is very important in this world because without it, the world would be an unpleasant place to live. I just bought my girlfriend a $400 wallet from Marc Jacobs and now she looks even more lovely.
Why do you all assume that an individual wearing over-priced and expensive clothing is insecure? What makes you think that an individual wearing $200 jeans is shallow? Of course, there are too many individuals that wear labels to fill a gap in their life, but not everyone is such a tool.
While clothing is very good example of where a higher price tag doesn't necessarily translate to better quality not everyone buys clothing with the expectation that it be extremely durable and last forever. There are many inexpensive, well-made clothiers available, and there are just as many over-priced, poor quality "designer" brands. (Express springs to mind.) Having said that, there are also many very expensive, extremely well-made designer options available to the consumer. One just needs the ability to sift through the over-priced crap.
You, the computer nerd, cannot dismiss a $200 pair of jeans as worthless because they're not marketed toward you. The same can be said for a $600 video card. Worthless to the many, but valuble to some. You may be content in your $15 jeans, programming and gaming on your $3000 PC, but there arises no need for you to dress in trendy clothes. You're so above being "trendy" or "cool."
I buy the clothes that I do not because of the price tag, label, or to fulfill some insecurity, but because I've found that in order to find stylish, proper-fitting clothing one needs to spend a little bit more. With one exception, I have not had a single article of clothing give up on me in recent years. Any articles I tire of are given to charity or handed down to friends and family.
Just as I am certain that there are some of you kicking about in jeans bought in the 90's, there are individuals contributing to this forum with computers bought in the 90's. Remember, to each his own.
