This has been discussed time and time again. It's just people's taste and sometimes wallets that they prefer to purchase higher quality (in most cases) clothes. I, myself, prefer brands that are a bit more expensive than your generic Wal-mart or Old Navy stuff. It's just how I like to look. Simple as that.

More expensive does not mean higher quality.

I have a friend who buys distressed looking designer jeans for $250-300 bucks a pair. My new Wrangler cowboy cut jeans are higher quality, look good, last forever and cost $20. Go figure.

I will spend more money on a watch, a gun, or a knife but you get actual worth for the added expense.

Well Old Navy sucks. I have completely stopped buying any clothes there - all my shirts either shrink or get torn easy. My pants the same - they just stop fitting correctly like they once did.

I'd rather buy a $50 pair of jeans from GAP than waste my money buying 2 pairs for the same price at ON.

Just because you don't have money doesn't mean others don't. Personally i would rather spend $100 on a pair of jeans, rather $100 per person on dinner which only lasts an hour.

For the most part I wear Volcom clothing because I get it all for wholesale, but lately I've been buying cheap stuff and using my dremel to break it in and give it a distressed look. It's fun and makes gives new stuff a worn-in look without having to wear it in :)

Only a true idiot asshat would even bother making such a defense, because both are 100% equally moronic.

And what sort of person would bother stooping to calling someone a "true idiot asshat" (and other personal attacks) in response ? Hmm...
I also did not defend buying a $600 video card, if you'll recall:

Or $600 processors or $500 video cards, hell 2 of them even.

Kinda different in that there's a lot of expensive R&D that goes into designing a chipset and testing it and writing drivers, updating production lines for new chip layouts, etc.

These are pieces of cloth held together with thread.
As mentioned, it's an apples and oranges argument. That doesn't say buying a $600 video card is better, it says the price tag is more justifiable (in my opinion). I never once condoned spending $600 on a video card.

can we eventually just start replying "repost"? :)

I just picked up a polo from Paper, Denim & Cloth along with some jeans...and it's one of the best purchases I've made in a while. To each his own.

I've only got a few expensive pairs of jeans (expensive for me at least...probably paid $50 - $60 for them) but would gladly have purchased Old Navy or whatever in their stead had the cheaper brands made them in the cuts/finishes I was looking for.

As they were not available, I could not buy them from those sources

Why are we talking retail price here? You realize you can get $200 jeans for $60. I know, you have to go SHOPPING, but it is possible;) Get off the computer nerds! Stop comparing the tech industry to clothing. I would have to say brigden is ATOT's resident style guru, and I think he would agree with me on this one.:p

From my experience in NY, they're okay. Off Saks, or even regular Saks today are better. Bloomingdales have the best deals. I bought a pair of Polo Denims that were originally $97.50 for 18 bucks. People are saying how they love their 20 dollar jeans. Why can't you have it all?

And people wonder why these geeks on here can't get women wearing those stylish clothing from walmart and kirkland.

More power to you if you can afford a $500 CPU or $200 Jeans.

You can find the best deals at the higher end department stores, last year I bought a 150 dollar sweater from Macy's for 9 bucks. Can't beat that, in fact I wear the hell out of that sweater

LOL, if you need to wear overpriced jeans to get some action then you are severly lacking. That's the good thing about keeping in shape and having an athletic build, all clothes look good on you no matter the cost.

Everyone is different. If we all liked the same thing the world would be pretty boring. I bought a $95 shirt over the weekend. I liked it, I have the money...why does it bother anyone?!
