I don't understand bittorrent

Bittorrent seemed like a good program at first, but it seems like it's changed. Now i can hardly ever get any good download speeds these days, and i always have to upload like four times what i download. Though i'm trying to download something off of bittorent now, and if i upload at 60kbps, it won't let me download anything, not even 0.5 kbps, but if i change my upload to 3, then i can download at 10kbps...i don't get it. What happened to this program? It was so promising , are they still working on it at all or what?

set ur upload to 75% of ur max upload...i think. and make sure u got ports opened or firewall off.

It could be that your ISP is blocking it, it's especially common for universities to block ports that are commonly used for P2P file trading.

In case of TCP port blocking/throttling try changing it out of the "common p2p" range, such as 60000.

What client are you using? I use azureus and it improves my speed tremendously.

Azureus = teh best by far.

I like Bitspirit myself, could never get Azureus to work right and BitTornado opens a seperate window for each torrent you DL. I hate that.
