I don't really chew my food when I eat

I kind of just mash it 2-3 times with the ol' molars and then swallow. My wife says its gross and that I "inhale" my food. I can clear a 16oz ribeye and 3 over easy eggs in about 2-3 minutes if I do a bit of pre cutting.

I dunno I'm a fat kid in a chiseled adult body. I like food, alot! My old man is the same way. I don't like to dine I just want to get it in my belly.

I obviously don't eat this way restaurants or public....unless it's like a Denny's or something.

Thoughts?

Can you even taste your food at the rate you're shoveling it in?

I can spend 10+ minutes on a steak, just saying.

Well yeah of course I taste it, that's another thing my wife says! What am I supposed to put it in my mouth and like swish it around for 5 minutes? Jesus. I'm trying to put calories into my blood stream not french kiss dead animal carcasses for crying out loud.

People say I eat with all the enthusiasm of a camel chewing on its own droppings. :D

I can't watch that. Disgusting!

Molly Schuyler is quite possibly the best in the world. An amazingly talented woman who hasn't even begun to see her full potential. It's a shame that there's a rift between the APE and MLE, so she never gets to compete against likes of Chestnut, Stonie and Kobayashi. I think she'd trounce all of them. Fans of CE really long for and truly deserve a unified crown.

I think I remember you saying that you were in the military. Is that when the habit started? I'm thinking the food was horrible and/or they didn't give you much time to eat which makes sense.

I had a relative who was injured in an accident from the waist down. He ate so fast he was done as I was getting started. He did this because eating made him sick. He was trying to get it over with as fast as possible.

I think more I grew up in a larger family. If you wanted any chance at more than your medium plate you ate fast.

I can understand that. The same thing happened when we all gathered at my grandparents. If you wanted the gravy made from bacon grease and a healthy serving of tomato, onion and cucumber salad you better be quick.

Are you implying that there's anything talented in gluttony?

Stuffing your face as fast as possible is not something that should be looked on in a positive light.

I like to enjoy my food, but if I'm really hungry or I'm munching on something really really good like nuts, I'll catch myself inhaling, then slow it down.

What I find crazy is those hot dog eating contests where they just shove the whole thing down. I can't imagine even coming close to competing with these people. I eat 2 hot dogs and I'm stuffed. Its the bread that's so filling.

She's 5'7" and 125 lbs soaking wet. Does that sounds like a glutton to you?

Lighten up. Competitive eating is not about gluttony. It's a lark, and if you fail to see that, then there's little hope for you.

Yes.

It's very much about gluttony. Forcing yourself to eat until you vomit. Sounds like gluttony to me.

I don't need to 'lighten up', its not something that keeps me awake at night worrying about it, I'm just surprised when anyone sees anything worthy in watching someone else eat too much.

"Good god, he eats like a pig"
"Nah, pigs tend to chew. I'd say he eats more like a duck."

You've only got a limited amount of time on this Earth. Enjoy your meals. Better for you too.

I have always been made fun of for this. Even before my brothers were born I ate with both arms folded around the plate, head down, mouth 3 inches from the plate and both arms moving furiously stuffing food in before anyone else could take anything from me. Done in 30 seconds.

My parents where like WTF son we aren't stealing your food. Dunno where it came from but I can be pretty selfish otherwise as well so I assume it's part of a larger character flaw. It also led to being overweight later on.

I still eat fast today but not usually like a NatGeo documentary and it's different when you try to inhale fish and veggies instead of nuked hot pockets and other fried shit. However once in a while it feels good to inhale a cheese-steak when you've been waiting an hour for it. Yeah off to make breakfast now.

Where I worked, any break you were able to take was over the minute a customer walked in the door. So, if you cooked a nice meal, you could take your time and risk not touching it after the first 3 or 4 bites for another hour, or you could inhale it and get to eat it while it was edible.
