It provides me with nothing win2k can't do.

I never understood why people think Win2000 is better than XP. XP IS Win2000 with more hardware support and a more customizeable interface. Can you all name specific diferences in 2000 that makes it better than XP? I'm not looking for "XP crashes all the time, Win2000 doesn't". If you answer this, give specifics...what is causing it to crash? A specific program? A driver? Let's see some backups for your arguments.
Less is more.

Having to turn off 32 things just to be able to tolerate the interface is not an upgrade.
Some features are nice, but not too many.

XP is a pile of crap compared to Win2000.

2000 is the best OS ever made by Microsoft.

I went from 98 -> 2k -> XP -> 2k

2k is better than XP, by far.

2k and XP are largely the same, in fact they are so similar that you can pretty much turn XP into 2k by disabling some services, doing some registry tweaks and turning off themes.

The only thing better than Windows XP is Win2k3 server

XP = R0x0r!!!

edit: xp > 2k3> 2k > 98 > linux > OSX

clarification: I am a client-side user

we have teh winnar!

This is true, but still most end users are way better off running XP (I feel Pro is best for everyone, they seemed to have deleted critical things in Home).

Win2k3 server will give the most stable platform and do much of XP's functions if you mess with it....but it's those same functions and eye candy's that cause instability.

We don't buy something like Unreal Tournament and turn off all the fun stuff because it will run faster and more stable, why should we use an all business OS then?

I like XP, but I do agree it is hard to configure some stuff, especially networking. I hate how it handles networking, and I dilike its built-in zip support and CD-RW support. Fix those problems and I would love it.

You do know that the interface is a theme, right? If you want the Win2000 Interface, just change the theme to "Classic". Not exactly 32 things you need to disable. Persoanlly, I like the new interface. Once you get used to it, it's a lot more efficient.

I agree that the networking wizard is way to presumptuios (it assumes everyone used 192.168.0.x addressing), so I don't use it. The CD writing is a bit confusing as well, not to mention slow. This should change in the next XP service pack though. As for Zip support, I actually like it...especially the fact that it will open the folder that your files were extracted to for you. Winzip doesn't do that and it drives me nuts.
