Whatever. I'll just continue to ignore it, as I'm sure most everybody of all races in this country do.
i don't think Black History Month is ignored. speak for yourself.

Here in Toronto (the most multiculturally diverse city in the world) I've not seen one reference to it around campus or anywhere I've gone this month (mall, subway, etc)

I just see MuchMusic commercials that pretty much summarize black contributions as rap, jazz, soul, rock and a few other music genres.

well I'll be damned

didn't know canada observed it too

Who cares. It's no sweat off my ass if there is a Black History month. I guess there are always those who need to snivel about something. Usually it's the fat pasty whites who are doing the sniveling..well at least here at ATOT. Maybe they would feel better if there was a month dedicated to Cheesecake and another dedicated to Kiddie Gamers.

This man speaks the truth! We shall call it "Red Dawn Month" in his honor!

In this day and age, anyone who stands up against "Black History Month" or Kwanzaa is automatically deemed a racist. And in today's world, being a racist isn't looked upon favorably.

You're mistaking cause and effect here. Racists like you, nik munky and SampSon (and so many on this list...not suprising, but oh so sad) aren't being called racist because they speak out against those things. They speak out against those things because they're racist. It's not like your stench isn't obvious.

Thus the existence of black history month does serve a purpose and since its incumberence is not that great, I feel there is no need to remove it.

Affirmative Action on the other hand I am completely against.

Oh, yeah. No reason to call you racist.

so if someone speaks out against those thigns they are racist?

Personally i think BHM/AA/kwanzaa/bet/etc is a step back in race relations. To be trully equal it has to be equal. Read what ilamater (think thats the name) posted. she/he says it so much better then i can at 3:30am in the morning

oh before you go off claiming im racist one thing you should know is i come a mixed family. I have grown up with Blacks/mexican/whites so color of the skin does not impress me. Education, work ethics, how you treat people do.

You know seeming as Black people are still comming out of effects of hundreds of years of slavery. I think we can have a dam history month.

Damm Asshats

:disgust:

What effects? Last I checked, blacks have all the rights of any other race in America.

what effects? how about Racial Profiling (for starters) I'm not Black but my GF is, and anyone who can say Blacks are treated, evenly closely to the level of a white person. They're living with their eyes closed. Black History month is just a cop out to try to rectify the injustices done to them. Which ultimatly force feeds Kids history, involving the same small group of Black people every year.

*I* never owned slaves, and none of my people (Scottish) were in America when Slavery happened. But, that doesn't mean I don't recogonize all the sh!t that happened to them.

How about the 40 Acers & a Mule we promised them? But, I'm sure they're rather have a month where people frown at them, because Heaven forbid, African people did contribute a lot to this county. Too bad it was forced, because without a month set aside all we'd have was a few days about MLK and maybe Rosa Parks.

I hate to point this out but the first people to start the slave trade were the dutch and the blacks themselves who were happy to trade man power for other goods. *ducks
