is there anyway to Encrypt and password protect a hard drive i am running XP pro

You may want to check out the PGP 8.0

It has someuseful features.That may be what your looking for.Particulary the PGP disk option.

safeboot solo and a couple of programs will encrypt the hard drive.

NTFS has built-in encryption capabilities. However, please read the FAQ topic before you go this route.
