Just finished building my computer with the following specs:

Case Thermaltake Tsunami

Power Supply OCZ Modstream 450w PSU

Motherboard MSI K8N NEO4 Platinum

Processor AMD Athlon 64 3000+

RAM Corsair Value Select 1GB(512MBX2) PC3200 400MHz

Hard Drive Seagate 80GB S-ATA, 8MB cache

DVD-ROM NEC 3520A Dual Layer DVD Burner

Floppy Panasonic Internal Floppy Drive (Black)

Vid Card ATI Radeon X800XL

I can get into the bios and change stuff around but when I get past that and try to run the WINXP cd i have, nothing happens. Well something happens: Disk boost failure. "Insert system disk and press enter."

I don't know what to do. What does the error mean? Is their something wrong with the HDD? The CD? The optical drive? The MSI board says it's starting the OS (According to the D-Bracket that was included, all four leds were green) but nothing happend other than the error.

This is my first build, so try and be patient with me and explain things in detail if you can. All help is appreciated guys!

usually what that errors means is it cannot find an active os to load from, what you will have to do is go into the bios settings and change the boot order of the system to boot from the cd/dvd rom drive first before the hard drive (cant grab the manual... its not letting me download it) but your manual should tell you.. once that is done it should boot from the cdrom and say press any key to load

I set the optical drive to boot first and disabled all the other bootup items. It still doesnt work.
