WTF? How the fuck does a thread about late night market movements get trolled by some douchebag who got touched as a little kid by Obama. Is your intelligence so low you can't comment on anything besides your obvious hate of the man. <-- Note the period this was a rhetorical question.

Regarding OP: we have 3 threads now about Eastern Europe's insolvency? enough is a enough?

Dude, I agree with him, obviously the markets are calling for term limits to be abolished.

THE WRITING IS ON THE WALL

Market down 264 as of this post, 25 minutes after open. A little more and we'll see a new bottom today.

It seems too easy for the dow not to drop below 7k at some point.

We might see S&P hit 500 this year and the dow well can go all the way down to the 3000s. After last year's beating I took everything out and put it in cash and I am actually shorting the market for protection.

I gave up, am >95% into bonds & metals. :(

Be careful, gold will go up short term but in a deflationary environment, gold has never done very well.

What exactly does it mean for a country to be insolvent when they can print their own money? How does a country default on their debt when they can simply print more money?

If the debt is in their currency I presume that they cannot become insolvent, but if it's in others' then they could.

Right...?

i wonder how Canadian dollars will do in this situation.

until recently, their government has been running a surplus.

they're also exporting oil, uranium, other minerals.

plus they have plenty of water.

to me it looks like one of the more stable countries around, but the
Canadian dollar still fell a few percent against the USD in this latest
go-round.
Yeah it is a bit strange and Canada has been in a better spot, but the adage of the US getting a cold and Canada the flu may hold true. A lot of Canada's manufacturing and economy in general is highly reliant on the US' well being.

The Canadian Economy is tanking. Everything is down, Manufacturing, Oil Exports, Mineral Exports, everything.

Surprised how little volatility today. The DOW dropped over 200 in no time at all this morning and has been within a hair of the same thing for hours. I wonder if we'll see some real action in the last 30 min.

Yeah, the price of oil is hovering near the break-even price for oilsands recovery -- which is not a good thing for us :(
