I just bought this ram with a combo deal. I'm not sure what to do. Can I get the full speed out of this ram with my current Ryzen 5 1400 or should I get something better? Any thoughts? Thank you! Also, I don't normally game with my pc but World of Warcraft Classic is coming out next month and it will be the first time I really put my computer to the test.

Yes, you should be able to use that RAM in your mobo and with your CPU @ XMP settings (3000 speed), given my experience. You might have to settle for 2933, if it doesn't do 3000 even.

But make sure that you have newest BIOS, or at least, up to the one containing PinnaclePI-1.0.0.6 AGESA, that one had the best memory compatibility for old-school 1st-Gen Ryzen CPUs.

Alternatively, try buying a Ryzen R5 3600 CPU, for $199.99 FS @ Newegg, and join the 3rd-Gen / Ryzen 3000-series revolution!

Thank you for responding! I'll update my bios and use the XMP settings and see if I can take advantage of the new ram speed. I did think about the Ryzen 5 3600 however there is a report of it not working with Destiny 2 which is a Blizzard game like World of Warcraft. Makes me kind of nervous that they may not have shaken out all the bugs yet since the cpu just came out. I was kind of hoping the R5 2600x would drop in price.

The bios for destiny 2 fix is coming soon. Previously AMD posted newer bios but scrapped it soon due to PCIE bug. I think Larry's suggestion of 3600 is spot on as most of the Rams work nicely with it.

3600 is a beast, near-ish, close to, matching 8700K level perf for $200. Check out the 3000 series builders thread here.

And Destiny 2 (IIRC) did something odd, doing a direct to hardware polling thing instead of using an indirect OS value, so, it broke with the new Zen2 architecture.

Success! I put the ram in and enabled XMP and it's running at 3000mhz. My motherboard the Asrock AB350 Pro4 with bios 4.70 worked no problem. Didn't have to update the bios. Online people have reported bugs with the latest bios so I really didn't want to mess with it especially since it's stable now. Since my motherboard is an older board I will play World of Warcraft Classic and see how it goes with the the Ryzen 5 1400, the game shouldn't be that demanding from what I've seen. However if things don't go so well then I will probably explore getting the Ryzen 5 3600.
