if you HAVE TO take meds.. make sure you know exactly how they are affecting you....

only reason i'm even posting here is because i too struggle with meds, the ones i struggle with are those of the painkiller variety... it's funny how life works, before my leg got messed up, i used to use them recreationally and i had major problems. Now that i have a legitimate reason, legitimate supply (exactly what i THOUGHT i wanted) i struggle still. i understand that even though i'm prescribed opiates, every day. i can not take opiates, every day. tolerance builds quickly, and before i know it i'm upping my dose, and then upping again.. and then i run out early, and then i suffer withdrawal. So what i do is try to take a "chipper," approach to it, every couple of weeks i force myself to abstain from the drugs, even though without them, my mobility suffers..i limp, which then causes my back to act up.. a whole chain of events, but i know, that i cannot quit doing this.. every single time, without fail i will run out early the next month.... it's a bitch.

i've also been described an anti depressant in the past, an SSRI, i took it for about 2 years and then i started feeling depressed even with the med, my doctor wanted me to increase the dose, but i went the other way, i quit taking it all together (weaned myself down) (ssri withdrawal was still hell)

until 2 months ago i had been prescribed 2mg klonopin as well, but refills ran out, and the doctor for whatever reason didn't write a new one at my last visit (i think he actually just forgot and i didnt mention it, i was getting 6 refills and that one was the only one that required a new prescription be sent over at the last visit.... i didnt take those everyday anyway, and so far so good, i haven't really missed em.. (besides being able to pop one and relax at night, which is not what they are intended to be used for)....dunno how long this will last though, i DO get very panicky/anxious sometimes.. just not lately. i guess if i do have an episode of anxiety i'll call and see if i can get it filled...

basically what i'm getting it is maybe you should try a new approach, regardless of what anyone thinks, maybe you'll feel better with less meds? wean yourself down correctly, and then try to only take the meds you absolutely have too..

just trying to help.

I thought they started the random drug testing to make sure you're taking the appropriate amounts and if it's not enough in your system they take it away cause they think you're selling it?

i dont take anything that hardcore, my docs never drug tested me... i only take hydrocodone, this month when i got it filled on the 17th they did have to call and get a new prescription sent over (i guess because of the change of scheduling, and i guess someone from the dr's office had to physically bring the written prescription to the pharmacy, dang i didnt even realize that until just now, it's a good thing i called before i just went up there!) actually nevermind, it looks like if you have existing refills left in october they can be filled, that must have been how i was able to get my last 2 refills without getting a written schedule 2 prescription,

it'll be interesting next month to see what happens, i had already talked to the doctor about it and he said the way he understood it he would be able to write a pre dated do not fill before prescription for what used to be the 4 refills i was getting (so that i dont have to go every month).

whoa, reading through the new rules i do see what your talking about, i wonder if i will have to take a drug test next time i go for a visit, it's going to have to be next month... what a cluster!

What kind of meds are you on?

Dennil was not a battleship. He was a human being, as I hope you are or the technology on battleships has progressed quite a bit recently.

I didn't poke at someone who is now dead.

I F-ed up and meant to insert "nerd" after battleship.

Be careful, the DEA "leans" on a LOT of Dr's about prescribing pain meds, it's a lot easier for them to go after Dr's than catch those that abuse. Your Dr. for example might get a notification from the DEA that his patients would be subjected to a "quantity check" where the Dr's office calls you in and says bring your pills so we can check and see if your on schedule, if you have 10 days left before the 30 day supply is over and you take 3/day you should have 30 left, if you don't it could be assumed that you are diverting for profit and your Dr might be forced to cut you off entirely. I also take Klonopin 2mg/day for sleep, from what I've read one has to be very carefully weaned off benzodiazepines or face the possibility of seizures and other bad withdrawal effects.

thanks, yes, i better start being way more careful with this stuff.. this is so ridiculous for such a relitively "weak" medication.... compared to the other meds it's now classified with. there is major difference between hydrocodone and oxycodone, dilaudid, or morphine..

Which is quite obvious, from reading his posts.

Yea, agree, with stuff like this, (from his post)"I couldn't enjoy the vid games that much nor contribute to production other than purchasing" I's say his problems run deep.

2mg is a really small dose, i dont even take it regularly... there's no withdrawal when i discontinue it (and i have felt minor benzo withdrawal before, it took ~6mg daily alprazolam without missing a day for a couple of months to feel it, and it wasn't that bad, not as bad as opiate withdrawal, or ssri withdrawal.) , so yeah if you ever have to / for some reason dont have access to your klon, dont worry, you wont have any, or very very minuscule withdrawal symptoms

To you it's "weak' but to a lot of other people a 10/500 loritab is still a potent opiate. It's a shame what Perdue Pharma did with the original oxycontin, as was it was a perfect medication for those with severe, ongoing pain but the sales rep's were told to inform any Dr's they visited with that the risk of addiction was low since it's a time-released pill. Of course this was a complete lie and even worse the original version was easily crushed into powder for snorting or injecting, I think they changed the way it's made now so that it cannot be used like that, the record $650 million fine from the FDA prodded them into making a version that cannot be abused easily.

yep it is a shame, they actually think they're going to get a bunch of people to quit taking these meds, really it's just gonna frustrate a LOT of people, and probably send alot of them to search for the alternative... which by the way apparently has hit record production levels this year (i saw a news article about afghan opium reaching record levels just recently)..... heh, as our government tightens the legal market, the poppy cartels ramp up production...

Yea, that's about the size of it, a local news story was saying that since pills are now harder to come by (in FL) since they put in the database they have doubled in price which has led to many former oxycontin abuser's to obtain heroin because it's much cheaper. Thing is with heroin one never knows how strong it is or how many times it's been "stepped on", (diluted) so the amount of accidental OD's goes way up.

Yeah they are getting stupid with it. I know a guy with a bad back who is on hydrocodone and he was talking about the new drug testing procedures to prevent people from selling any of their pills or taking too much to get high....if that would even work. Which also makes it hard fro people like you that just want to pass on taking it for a bit so they don't build up so much tolerance to it.

They don't understand that you can't stop the recreational druggies or prevent future drug addicts. They'll find a way.
