You should go to a large liquor store and talk to the staff. Tell them you want some suggestions.

I recommend trying some German wines that are sweet like Auslese to start with and work up to drier types.

Drinking wine is to be savored, not just throwing it down the hatch. Think of it as romancing the stone.

Its an acquired taste. 'nuff said.

Have a glass once a week or so, sip it slowly and notice the taste as you do. In a few weeks, you'll love wine. Oh, and drinking white wine wont help you acquire a taste for red wine. They taste nothing alike.

Also, <$15 a bottle wine is hit or miss. There are some really good ones, and there are some really terrible ones. Toasted Head and Ravenswood are two inexpensive brands that are very good for the cost.

Yep... either Auslese or Spatelese. These are VERY sweet white wines and are much easier for the non-wine drinker to get used to.

$8 merlot? There's your problem.

i don't drink whine or really any alcohol for that mater (Maybe a few beers a year) and even I know you don't get an $8 bottle of wine and expect it to taste good.

I think it's obvious. :p

lol, good catch...

i thought it was more a freudian slip than anything :p

i dont drink much at all, which is weird coming from a family of winos. every friggin holiday there are many bottles out at any given time. i just cant get into it. i did like to mix the pizza hut keg wine with sprite and a ton of fruits at the end of a shift, but that was about it lol.

First time I ever drank wine, my dad brought up a 10 year old glass jar filled with wine and a huge ginseng root in it. I drank a mouthful without ever having tasted alcohol, and spat it right back out.

I never like wine though. The taste is too weird.
