I don't know how to approach my estranged son

So, the other day my son asked me to buy something for him in a neighboring town I visited and I totally forgot, I felt so bad about it even though the doctor told me it's normal to forget things because I'm old.

He got really pissed off for this and I've been thinking of ways to make it up to him so I got some beer in the hopes that he would come over and talk to his old man for a while, but I was afraid to ask since he rarely visits his family anymore, so I figured that since he is an expert in computation technology (I'm so proud of him) I'd ask him to come fix my machine and we could spend a couple hours together, so I called him and he refused, he's so busy these days, god bless him.
