Harold Ford will be sent packing November 7 as he deserves.

Because he's black?
What is it with you guys and the focus on him being 'black'???
The only people talking about the color of his skin is the Democrats.

The OP brought up his skin color, not me. Now you want to change the subject.

I find it funny that the people who bring up someones skin color the most are the ones that claim to be the least racist. Look, I don't Harold Ford because I don't like his politics, not because I don't like his race. It's silly that every time someone says something bad about a black person that race will eventually be brought in. I have just as little patience for people who go crying 'racism' all the time for no reason as I do for racists. Both are equally bigoted and just as bad for our country. Now look, I have lived in Tennessee my whole life, in my 21 years I have spent maybe 20 days of that not in the state of Tennessee, and the fact is that people here are NOT racist, yes I know there are a few bad apples, but the reason people here won't vote for Ford is because he doesn't represent the normal southern values, NOT because he is black.

Look, Ford is from a political family, 2 member of his family are currently, or were previously under investigation for corruption. He has NEVER held a real job, he got into politics after he FAILED the bar exam. Corker on the other hand is a self made man who got rich by hard work, and raised a family, THEN got into politics. In the south a hard working married man is going to get WAY WAY more respect than a single man who has never held a real job. Even before you get into politics Ford is at a large disadvantage due to his background.

EDIT: well here it goes, I'm off to the Corker vs Ford debate to see if I can sneak in. Wish me luck, and if I'm not back in a few hours I got arrested, so someone come bail me out OK?

Actually it would be better said that Harold Ford Jr. got in to politics and then failed the bar exam. Since according to him he sat the bar exam while campaigning for the House seat he occupies.

[sarcasm]I see Corker is as honest as Frist! [/sarcasm]

You're acting like racism isn't a problem any more and that fears of racism are based on some fantasy world not connected to reality. I'm not even old enough to remember the bad old days, but I DO know that the racial tensions, race baiting and racism weren't something people just imagined...and that wasn't all that long ago. As for how far we've come, it's true that we've made a lot of progress, but I wouldn't say racism is truly dead yet...it's just not as public as it once was.

Now obviously not everyone who doesn't like someone of a different race dislike them BECAUSE of their race, I think the fact that everyone on both sides keeps bringing race into the picture is not good for anyone involved, but I also think that black candidates DO have problems because of their race in some areas. You don't know any racists because it's no longer acceptable to talk about it in polite company, but they are still out there.

The bad part is that both sides have adopted the "I'd rather push a Chevy than drive a Ford" mentality.

Great signature material.

I don't think it is true, though, at least on the part of the Democratic Party. The Democrats have made great strides, in my opinion, in nominating centrist, well-grounded practical candidates. Many Democratic candidates are former small businessmen. It is largely because of this change that the GOP has been piling on so much with spurilous attack ads on irrelevant issues (such as Dem staffers allegedly calling 800 sex lines-when the call was clearly a wrong number, or a candidate wrote a fictional piece with a naughty scene in it, or that Ford may have gone to a Playboy Club party, and so on ad infinitum).

That is true I suppose, I was suggesting that both sides do it, but clearly they don't do it equally. The Republicans are much farther away from the moderate positions than the Dems, and while the Dems are getting more centrist by the day, the Republicans seem to think sticking around in James Dobson country is a good idea.

If I was on the daily show I would get paid for making the same line. Get over it.

Fair enough, but you AREN'T a Daily Show writer who's paid to make up good lines that are clearly jokes...you are a political commentator (on a message board, admittedly, but still a "commentator") who's posts are almost always serious. Add that the fact that you frequently make very mean-spirited personal attacks on Democrats and you'll forgive me if I didn't get the joke.
