I just don't. I know that they're human, just like you and me. And if they're doing something great and successful at it, I do thoroughly admire their talent. But I don't really 'idolize' them...

Some of us get SO passionate about their favorite musicians, politicians, actors, role models, religious leaders, etc.

I freaking LOVE Arch Enemy (metal band), but if I ever meet them, I'd simply congratulate on their success. My bro recently met his star and he was totally gushing and wet for her.

I don't particularly admire anyone in politics- past & present. I feel what they're doing is no different than any other jobs- looking out for their own (also includes marketing themselves well).

For other true major community volunteers/leaders (can't think of any now): Great. I sincerely admire what you do and thankful for those you're helping. Thaaaaaat's about it.

Let me note, I'm not your typical 'internet cynic'. I'm actually very optimistic & have a positive disposition. I certainly don't consider myself too proud or important. Far farrrrrrrr from that.

I didn't think I did until I met Quentin Tarantino, my words escaped me I was sweating I had doughy eyes, I just mumbled my name. I also adore Stephen Fry, he is my idol and I love David Tennant, though I may just want to sleep with him :sneaky:

Never been that way either.
I thought I would love to meet the guys from TSO, but it was just like meeting anyone else. Maybe they're just down to earth? :)
Even when I went to see Christopher Reeve when he spoke at my college, while it was cool to see him in person, it wasn't as big of a deal as I imagined it would be.
They're just people to me, as cool as the things they might do are.

I think, in a way, I do wish I was more 'bubbly' or deeply passionate about someone or something.

It is quite lively to see someone get so enthusiastic about his fav. band.

Just past weekend, I saw my favorite local band that came to NY from New England. I got to meet the band again and I simply said, "Man, you guys rock. It's a sham, mainstream music isn't about talent anymore."

Then he and I chatted about bunch of random things, just like chatting with any other person.

Nope don't idolize or get star struck. Met more then a couple famous people...and they are normal people...whoopie...

But I'm at least slightly jaded from being an ER/trauma nurse for a while. I've come to realize there are far more important things in life then idolizing another person. Perhaps I'm just a bit of a realist in that regard.

HAHA, no! I get in trouble at work because the boss always wants to wash the balls of every General Officer that comes through our work areas and I treat them like regular people because that's what they are at the end of the day.

The only guy I idolize is the guy from the DirecTV commercials because he is epic win.

I don't understand all the flutter about celebrities.

The people I really respect are inventors. People who came up with some truly original.

That's why I don't go to spectating sporting events. I hate watching. I rather get in and enjoy it even if I am making a fool out of myself (but rarely cuz I am that good). :D

I can't understand all the celebrity worship in this country and how much money we're willing to give to people who are only marginally more talented (in theater or singing) than the rest of us (if they're even better. Autotune & 20 takes for a scene sort of wipe out any real difference.)

I used to work the front door at a bar in Hollywood on the sunset strip. Saw many a loser who happened to in film or tv...

I actually got star struck meeting John Milius and James Ellroy the writers....both turned out to be fantastic chaps and even corresponded with me via email.

Dang!

I'd like to say no, but I have to admit that I was more than a bit starstruck when I met Brian Greene and Alex Filippenko.

I'm dazzled in the presence of people that much smarter than I am! o_O

You've never met anyone famous so you don't know how you'd act.

You are a member of the silent majority. As I have aged I have found the concept of "celbrity" to not be worth even considering. I have my own life with my own joy and sorrows ... why would I want to waste what time I have left yearning to be someone that I am not?

lol, that's a good response. Or, "I'll just youtube it in the morning"

Original question: No, I don't.

Where'd you meet Alex? I don't know the other guy but I've seen Alex on a bunch of The Universe episodes and am amazed just listening to him talk.

I don't care. I've met a few celebs, they're just people.
This guy that's trying to get into my daughters pants wants to take the wife and I to a Heart concert and backstage to met Ann and Nancy Wilson. While I might like the concert, I have no desire to meet them. It's not like we are going to BBQ on the weekends.
