I understand that he wants to reform health care and stop insurance companies from....I guess turning people down? I understand that he wants to make it so everyone has health insurance.

Here's what I don't understand:
Why is it going to cost $875 billion to do this? What is that money going to go for?

What happens to the insurance companies? We would still be getting our insurance from them right? Or would we pay the government and then they would pay the insurance companies?

If there are so many people without insurance, why are the states hurting so much from providing poor/low income families with health care?

Why don't they look at the big problem? Why not focus on the many people who are jacking up insurance companies costs by taking themselves or their kids to the ER every time they get a sniffle or a bruise?

Is this going to be another social security? Am I going to pay into my whole life to get next to nothing in return?

Do they not realize that the $875 billion dollars are going to come from us citizen's pockets in the end?

Any input is appreciated. I don't understand what they are trying to do...

The fact of the matter is that "progressives" promised the American people more than they can deliver. Medicare is going bankrupt and with the influx of baby boomers it is in even more trouble.

The "progressives" want to take out what is in the private sector and put it into government to cover their own asses.

Much of the purposed legislation could be implemented for next to nothing but this isn't about true reform.

I would also like to add that the numbers thrown out by Obama are with 10 years of taxes and only 6 years of service. The "progressives" fail to mention the budget ramification of 10 years of service coupled with 10 years of taxes.

Nobody knows the answers to many if not all of your questions because the health care bill is a secret. The previous versions were hashed out behind closed doors and the changes being made right now are too.

Nancy Pelosi says it needs to be passed so we can then find out what's in it.

And that it would result in 400,000 jobs "almost immediately". And, just so we're clear, that's new jobs, not lost. I think.

If this is an anti-bill rant posed in the form of a series of rhetorical questions, it bears no response.

If you are confused about the actual workings of the bill, then say so and I'm sure it can be clarified by any number of people here.

Protip: Insuring the Uninsured Cost $

Costs who though? If you say government, then that means it costs me. I don't really want to have to work to support people I don't really know or care about. Which is why I'd rather have state ran single payer system. Fuck the Federal Government as far as I'm concerned. Our politicians in California keep fucking things up here, but I would rather have them fuck it up here locally for us, than the Fed doing it across the nation.

Hell to even get a state ran single payer system we'd have to strip TONS of power from the Federal Government and we'd have a large shift in how much the Fed taxed us and how much our state of residence taxed us. I'd rather pay 35%+ of my pay check to California instead of the Fed.

Compare it to a casino that is told they have to pay out every time someone plays whether they win or lose and you will understand where the money is going.

You know what's in a bill that's not in its final form?

Are you an insider? Deep Throat II?

Well I still can't tell if you don't understand the rationale behind the bill, or if you just don't understand the actual mechanics of it.

The bill sets up a national exchange where private insurance companies compete to sell policies to the uninsured (i.e. everyone who doesn't have group pool insurance through an employer.) The government sets minimum coverage standards to allows policies to be advertised on the exchange. People who purchase insurance off the exchange receive a tax credit to help them purchase it. Typically, the credit will pay for about 2/3's of the cost of the policy. In addition, the government will impose some regulations on insurance companies so that they can't deny coverage to sick people and they can't cancel your coverage after you get sick.

The tax credits are paid for about 50% through cuts to Medicare part C and savings from cutting down on Medicare fraud, and 50% through taxes. Whether or not YOU personally have to pay any more taxes depends on whether you fall into certain categories. Basically, the bill taxes extremely expensive insurance plans starting in 2018, and it also taxes unearned income to the equivalent of the Medicare withholding rate for earned income, but only for those making over $250,000 a year.

The final bill, if there is one, will not be very different from the Senate version, and will likely be that version with the changes proposed by Obama which have been posted recently on the internet. Any further changes from that will likely be very minor, if there are any.

400,000 jobs doing what?

Providing health care and related services to the 37 million American citizens who currently have no health insurance.

Health sector employment rose by 14,500 jobs in January, and significant jobs gains are anticipated in health related IT jobs over the next 12 months.

Those with double majors in IT/Heath Administration have a bright future.

Obama and Dems know they can control votes, money and power via health-care. Don't kid yourself it's about health.

The #1 visitor to the White House is SEIU (1.5 million members - often called "Son Of ACORN" - they want illegals as members badly) head Andy Stern. the SEIU will get 1000's of jobs and the gov will get monstrous new bureaucracies that will have control over peoples lives (and medical records etc). Nationalized health-care firmly fastens citizens to the gov teat.

Of course Obama is also a radical and despises the private sector that he feels is the source of many problems in the world and at home. If he can crip the private sector and weaken the US it can be brought into the globalist system (a reason Obama appoints transnationalist lawyers who feel US Constitution should be overridden by international courts and agencies etc).

Don't forget Rev Wright was open supporter of Marxism (like other Obama friends and appointees)

Obama even used SEIU colored his tie during last health-care speech
