This is today's joke but I don't get it, can someone explain?

I took it as a simple jab at people who oppose gay marriage because: "How am I supposed to explain that to my kids?!"
They'll say that kind of thing as though 1) Explaining it is even difficult in the first place, and 2) That that should be a valid reason for it to be illegal.
 
Typical C&H Joke
1) situation
2) common disagreement is implied
3) chargers actually agree agreement on common disagreement:
4) disagreement exists regarding other aspect of disagreement
 
I think it's just poking fun at people who say "how am I supposed to explain gay marriage to my kids?" Not a very good joke though.
 
The joke is that the guy in the orange shirt who is against gay marriage is a moron and that it is completely obvious that he is a moron. That is the joke.

That opinion has been the norm going back generations, changing it is going to take more than a few years. So I don't really see those against gay marriage as enough of a joke to make the comic funny. Maybe there is some other punchline in it though, it's wording is very strange.
 
Old people don't like gay marriage and use Jesus as an excuse for their distress with the issue.
As they die off, it will be a small minority that oppose it.
 
i think he's saying that just because marriage is the same between a man and a woman as comparesd to same sex, it's extremely hard to put it in words why it's different.
 
None of their cartoons are funny or interesting. Why are you expecting something different from this particular one?
