noodles, rice are real cheap and good..
Beans and tortillas are good.
Cheese just about goes with anything.
PB and J is good.
eggs are easy.
tuna is good and sometimes cheap

Any mix of the above works...

Grilled chicken done on a George forman grill. Cut it up, throw it in some fetticini, and add alfredo sauce. Chicken Alfredo.

Grilled chicken with a box of Zatarains scampi for Chicken Scampi.

Grilled cheese and tomato soup.

my cousin once had the giant cookbook "how to cook everything"

he was especially fond of bacon-wrapped baked chicken, which sounded very good : -2 for increasing the likelihood of a heart attack?

oh, and i love digiorno pizza

Hamburger helper.
Tuna helper.
Chicken helper.
Those chicken bake dinners aren't half bad.

Cod or salmon wrapped in aluminum foil and with a little lemon juice and some lemon pepper thrown and broiled on the stove.

Well... at the moment I'm munching on cheap chocolate graham cookie bears - "made with real chocolate"! w00t! :)

Seriously, tho - my favorite simple meals are peanut butter & jelly, deli meat + cheese on a bagel, salad, fruit, yogurt is good & cheap. Soups, maybe?

Ooooo - homemade pizza! Get a couple boxes of jiffy pizza crust (<$0.50 apiece!), a jar of pizza sauce, cheese, and whatever toppings you fancy. You can make a pizza in roughly the same amount of time it takes to call & order one & wait for it to be delivered. And for cheaper, too!

Try some ghetto tuna primavera: 1 can of tuna, 1 slice of nonfat cheese, tomato sauce, linguini, with a touch of pepper. All for like $1.50 a meal, and healthy.

make some kickass sandwiches with some good meats, cheeses...

like beef pastrami and smoked gouda, or corned beef and provolone, with a side of some zapps kettle chips

frito pie is an easy winter favorite of mine

you can a decent pasta fairly easily,
buy some already made pesto sauce, grill some sliced chicken breast with some garlic, and some mushrooms, throw in some crushed red pepper
then mix that, the pesto, and the pasta all together.....yummy and not very expensive

try some spaghetti with meatsauce, but add in some sweet ittalian sausage and some grilled onions.

or maybe just get a sirloin steak, marinate it, grill it or broil it, have a side of rice/pasta/risotto, with some green beans

You can make easy food thats actually good, instead of mac n cheese (although thats good sometimes)

well, I had a big piece of medium rare steak tonight. The trick is to go to Sam's Club and look around the meat department, they have some cuts on sale for $2-$3/lb about half the time. However, I did learn tonight that contrary to what my roommate believes, baked beans are not as good as a baked potato as a side item for a steak. We split the duties, I marinaded and grilled the steaks, his job was to make the rest of the food (which I thought was going to be homemade bread and baked potatoes). Nope. The homemade bread still had 1.5 hours left before it was done, and the potatoes magically became beans. Oh well, the marinade I pulled out of my *** worked very well (honey/bourbon with other stuff added for fun), and my steak tasted great. Its not that baked beans are bad with steak... its just they arent potatoes.
