I didn't know someone can be alive and conscious with half of his body missing...

If you want to see the video, google "vietnamese man alive after cut in half" and click the videos tab. The first link. It is gross and sad. No one even tries to help him. And he keeps reaching down to feel his innards. Perhaps the nastiest part is the the difference between how far his guts are sticking out in the beginning of the vid and the end. Not for the faint of heart.

There pretty much isn't a damned thing anyone there can do to help him.

No way in hell I'm looking this up, I don't deal well with grim and gory situations. Seeing as I haven't watched the video, I have a question. People are saying no one stopped to help; while I agree there isn't much you can do, at they very least you should call an ambulance and provide moral support to the man. Then again, I would probably throw up several times if I tried to help.

What's so surprising about that? neckarb is dead from the shoulders up and he still posts.
ZING!

It's funny because it's true.

"just relax man, youre gonna be all right...."

amazing that nobody doesnt anything to help, theyre more interested in sticking camera phones in his face. its freaky that he keeps grabbing his organs, like hes checking to make sure no one stole his wallet.

That's the most sickening part of it, people are more interested in grabbing on video so they can post it on the internet for the their 2 seconds of fame. Disgusting.

Not gonna go watch the video. I've seen more than enough people blown in half to last several lifetimes. It is surprising though, how long people can last in such a condition...until, either they bleed out, or until the body finally realizes what's happened to it...and it just stops living.

It's also amazing that we could have half of our brain removed and could be alive and well, and seem to function fairly normally by the average person.

For people in these situations, can't you remove the pinching object and just set their torso down on a hot plate or something to cauterize it so you can get them to a hospital?
They would need to have a trauma/vascular surgeon and some anesthesia on site, to clamp off the major vessels (aorta and vena cava). But in some cases, there are going to be other blood vessels that you just can't reach before they bleed to death.

So generally the best you can do is give them a shot of morphine and hold their hand? That sounds terrible.

Didn't watch the video but I'm assuming the victim is in shock and the adrenaline is keeping him going.
