How do I know for sure? I am too poor to go to the doctor. It is swollen at the base and purplish. I can move it though, and it doesn't hurt that bad. It just feels really stiff, like I am not getting enough circulation.
Sorry, no pics yet.
Not broken. Ice for 48 hrs and heat after that.
Edit: How did this happen? We demand a story! A story with naked girls is even better.
I was attacked by my kitchen counter. No naked girls were present at the time, although that would make things more interesting.
The research I have done says that it can still be broken even if you can move it. Although, the pain has subsided in the last 12 hours.
What finger? I broke the pinky bone in my hand in high school. I was being a whiny crybaby and Mike Tysoned a chair, which turned out to be considerably more solid than I had anticipated. Immediately after this, I went out and chopped up a tree stump with an axe (the fact that I had to do this is what cause the hissy fit in the first place... ahhh, irony). That hurt. But, I didn't think my hand had broken; I got an x-ray done several weeks later and they said it was in fact broken, but too late to set, unless I wanted them to rebreak it and splint it (which sounded absurd).
So in my experience, breaking a small bone in your finger or hand hurts, but it's not too bad, and it heals fairly quick. If you're worried, just tape a couple popsicle sticks to your fingers in a makeshift splint; costs $2.00 to make, and hey, free popsicles.
