i did something stupid and rotated my camera during video capture

if i had left it in vertical orientation it'd be easy to rotate. but i went from vertical to horizontal. so obviously if i rotate the whole thing the second part will now be wrong. additionally, that doesn't fix the part where the camera is rotated.

i can go frame by frame if need be. i suppose command line scripting each frame in avisynth may be possible but i'd really rather GUI it.

also it'd be neat if i could keep the vertical part with large black bars on the sides and then expand out as it's being rotated.

probably need something professional, unfortunately.

Maybe I am over simplifying this but why can't you split the video ... rotate the portion that you need to fix and then join them again with a transition where the split is?

it's the bridal procession. cousin's wedding so it's not like i was paid or they were relying on my video skills and it'll probably just be posted to facebook. but it'd be nice for people not to tilt their heads. i'll have to see what's in the rotating part. i may be able to cut out the rest of it. i missed the "i do's" because i wasn't expecting them (right at the beginning of the wedding). did get the first kiss and the exchange of vows.

<--- wishes he'd had a bigger and empty memory card to have recorded the whole thing

if you split the video where you need to rotate, then any basic video editor should be able to rotate the entire clip at once .. not frame by frame. I do my editing on my MBP and use Quicktime Pro and iMovie. QTP can rotate the entire clip with a single button click. Then save the rotated clip and join it with the one that was oriented correctly. You can use a simple transition to smooth the two together.

How did you get the exchange of vows and the first kiss, but not the "I do" which happens in between those two??

the i do happened immediately. there was the procession, the i do, and then they were led onto the dais. it happened so fast i couldn't get the lens cap off and the camera turned on (LX-3). should have just left it on and in ready mode the whole time, but i'd have still missed the first part of the i do.

or maybe i have my terminology wrong

a friend of mine is a pro videographer, maybe i should pick her brain

eh i could just cut out the whole part during and after the rotating. nothing interesting happened. well, there was the handoff of the bride to the groom.
