Okay, this is not related to my Obama thread.
I was at the University Co-op a couple of days ago buying some Prismacolors. The Co-op is the main retail store that is affiliated with the University of Texas at Austin.
I walked outside onto Guadalupe, and saw this mangy homeless guy drawing portraits. He was using this 1.5" long crappy pencil and was producing very good portraits. I was amazed. Anyway, I turned around and went back into the store.
I bought a set of various sketching pencils, 6H to 6B, high quality. Pencils are cheap, and with my discount, they were like $3.10. Went back outside, and the guy was gone. I was more disappointed than anything else, so I started walking back to my apartment.
Bam! There he was, sitting down at Pita Pit. I told him that I noticed him sketching with his depleted pencil and handed him the set of new pencils.
At least he is trying to make money by offering a product and not straight up begging. Who knows what he is trying to buy, or if he begged immediately afterwards ...
