If that's a legitimate story, and not just a biased one-sided report, that's pretty sketchy.

I'm stuck with choosing between Comcast or Frontier Communications. Every once in awhile I think of switching to Comcast because they have faster speeds in my area but then I read/watch horror stories like this.

In my experience, most ISPs suck, some just more than others. If your connection is stable and the speed/cost is at least decent, just stick with it.

Hey Red Squirrel did you ever get that fios connection? I remember you posted some pics awhile back when they were digging in your neighborhood.

This was on reddit. Not buying it, but Comcast is a cume sucking ISP and my service is always down. I have a new modem too. Sometimes It's all three; TV, Internet and phone that are out.

Oh yes, I got it maybe a month or so after that. I am lucky since I have aerial cable plant. They never did underground. I get 50/30 compared to 8/1 before. It's awesome. My biggest fear when this service came to town though was that they'd cap it, but thankfully they didn't.

ONT pics:
1st one is older, I ended up having to move it up and put the actual ONT on top when I installed my battery rack for my server room. The shelf was in the way of the door to the rack.

That looks awesome. What speeds you getting?

I get pretty much the advertised speed. 50/30 is the package and I get maybe 49.8ish down and 31ish up. (not at home now so can't do a speed test). I can get up to 250/30 if I want to, but 50 is plenty fast. I wish they allowed servers though. I'd host my websites from home instead of being limited by the specs of a leased server. The better specs you want the more you have to pay per month.

Aw man I'd kill for those speeds. I'm on a shitty dsl line with a 6.6mbps down and a (don't laugh) .78mbps up. I'd love to have a better upload speed like you do. I'm so jelly.
We have a local telecom laying fios but it's going to be a year or two before they get to our neighborhood. I can't wait.

Yeah the upload is very nice. I can actually do half decent off site backups now and uploading stuff like youtube videos is really fast. Before any kind of upload just killed my internet for an hour or so.

That article sound made up.

Comcast admitted it...

"Comcast’s Senior Deputy General Counsel admits that the company did contact Conal’s employer"

Seems his story has more truth to it than Comcast would like and they got caught.

Yes, that explicitly means the dude didn't do anything at all to cause anything.

The article is so one sided, there is no telling what really happened.

Just moved myself and had fios available in the area. I'm on the 50/50 plan... and it's exactly that - no TWC bullshit anymore where it fluctuates like crazy. I'm never going back! I do miss Palladia though...... :(

it sounds to me like there is more to this story

i bet the guy used the position of his company in relationship to Comcast as a threat

which would certainly be disallowed and grounds for firing

if that is indeed what happened and Comcast called him out on it, then he deserves what he got.

Does not matter what he said Comcast should have never called his employer. If he said anything illegal then they should contact the police.

Now they opened their self up to suit as he can show direct damages due to their act. One of the hardest things to show in things like this is direct damages but he has that now. And his employer said he was let go because of what Comcast said.

Or its so one-sided because Comcast messed up his billing over half a dozen times and contacted his employer who is also a contractor for Comcast.

While likely, we don't know enough details.

Also possible.

i wonder if he used the fact that his company did accounting for Comcast to call people he shouldn't have called? because there is a lot missing from the story. as it is it really just don't add up
