Here's a story of why pirating software is bad:

So a guy I know decided to download Quake 2 off of a warez channel using IRC and an FTP program. Guy gets the zip file and unzips it. oddly enough, there's no Install needed, just unzip and go! So this guy is all like 'rock on! this is great!'

Sooo this guy illegally distributes this same version to his friend. the two of them have a blast playing it. Unfortunately, the first guy to get it, noticed his computer was slowing down. He goes onto a virus scanning website we'll call Homecall. He scans his computer and goes :Q to see over 8,000 corrupted files from viruses.

Astonished at this huge collection of viruses, he tells his good friend whom he also sent it to. The friend scans using Homecall and is amazed to find he also has alot of viruses. Only around 2,000 corrupted files.

Lesson: Don't use warez. It's bad and causes viruses.

Not sure if you have warez stuff on your comp or not, but it's an important story people need to hear.

So this guy I know got a car, and had a blast driving it. He went driving with all his friends. Then, because he sucked at it, he crashed and died.

Lesson: If you suck at something, you probably shouldn't be doing it, even if millions of other people do fine.

I have never got a virus or spyware (cookies don't count) on any of my systems, and I never run an active antivirus or spyware blocker, but have done regular scans because of paranoia caused by stuff like this.

It is very simple and easy to NOT get spyware and viruses. Frankly, I'm shocked so many enthustiests on this forum who should know better get them so often.

BTW, I use IE. To get spyware and "toolbars" on IE you MUST click OK on a prompt if your security settings are correct.

This is SO simple, folks.
