I go to the gym, lift weights and try to stay in shape. I did a yoga class at the gym and it freaking killed me.

Think its for wimps or girls try and make sure you have a sick day or two you can take because you just may need it!o_O

I dated a girl in college who did birkam yoga, and I went with her for a while. It's a different kind of intensity, and it certainly will leave you sore and give you a good burn.

Useless for me, tried it once. Couldn't do any of the poses, didn't have the flexibility, so it was a lot of standing around. :/ Expensive.

I understand about the flexibility thing. I used to be more flexible and hope to be back to it with yoga and the other classes at the gym. I figure if in addition to the weights and cardio machines, I can do yoga, body flow, body pump and body attack classes and still walk the next day with out difficulty I will be in great shape again.

I have been using the eliptical machine on a hard setting but yoga still smoked my muscles.

I guess getting the body of a martial artist crossed with a gymnast and moderate weight lifter is my goal.:)

As people age their ROM (range of moton) decreases so if you help maintain it all your life you will feel better and be in much better shape than you would have otherwise.

Try it!

I've always enjoyed yoga, whether it's a traditional Hatha, Anusara, or Bikram...I'm making an effort to get in at least one yoga class a week in addition to my weightlifting/Crossfit. I love how it makes you feel and it really helps with my flexibility/mobility and recovery. Plus the views in class aren't bad either. ;)

Completely respect yoga. It is helping me keep young and flexible at age 44. I've followed several DVDs (Rodney Yee) with my wife and was impressed, but now I'm doing the P90X one and it seriously pushes you. By the end I am a heap of sweat but I feel great. Still shaky/fall on some of the more difficult moves but getting there. Total respect for yoga. Plan to continue for life.

I do P90X quite a bit; one of the toughest workouts is Yoga X.

thinking of looking into yoga.. i do a lot of wakeboarding and it's caused a lot of wear and tear on my body the last 5 years. i always feel so stiff. recently pulled a back muscle last week but once it heals i'd like to try it out. think it will benefit me as i have the back problem, busted knee and a fubared hip..?

Yoga is where it's at. I do some poses at home that I learned from a book on Yoga for runners and it's helped me overcome ITBS and tight groin muscles. My running form is better than ever now. And I do love the added flexibility it's given me - I just wish I had more time for a full and proper yoga session a couple times per week.

Just had my first bikram yoga session last night....was able to actively pose (or attempt poses) for about 70 minutes out of the 90 minute class, then had to lay down for the last 20 for fear of passing out. My shirt was completely drenched not even 20 minutes into the class. 108 degrees + 40% humidity FTW :D

Nice! Did you like it though? I actually took 3 friends from my Crossfit gym last night and they had a blast. I'm trying to coordinate a private session just for our box.

Staying in the room the whole time was probably the hardest thing I've mentally done. My body does not do well with heat...also, I have a bad tendency to get frustrated when there are certain poses that I'm not flexible enough to do :)

However, I felt absolutely amazing when I was done. I felt like I had one of the hardest workouts of my life, plus my muscles were as relaxed as they are after a professional massage. I went again tonight and didn't do as good as last night, but I intend to keep at it!

2 nights in a row is impressive! Most studios will do a 30-day challenge throughout the year...that'd be amazing. Just keep at it...the beauty of it always being the same 26 poses is that you know where your weaknesses are and exactly how hard you can push yourself. (and also, where to take your breaks)

Keep it up, good job!
