I have had this problem for several months now.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

I click on a thread.
It opens and flashes on the screen for a few seconds.
It closes and some other forum message list, usually "Peripherals" opens.
To tread the thread I tried to open, I have to hit my browser's back button.

Very strange.

This happens in both IE9 and in Chrome. I am running Win 7 x64. Logitech g700 mouse.

I tried clearing all cookies. That did not help.
I logged out. Problem persisted.

You already posted about this once in here and unfortunately, it would appear you alone have the problem. Virge asked about the possibility of a corporate network being the cause and you didn't answer. I'm sorry you're experiencing this but do not have any other solutions for you.

Run a safety check on your system.
I have IE8 and chrome on one system (XP Pro), IE9 and Chrome on a two other Windows 7 systems. One system has a wired rodent, the other a Logitech wireless package.

I am not seeing any of your symptoms.

allisolm,
I apologise for the double post.
I should have located the original post and added an upate.

As to Virge's question: I had missed the question and no, I am not on a corporate network.

I was using LastPass and it looks like it kept trying to fill in some fields automatically and logging me in whenever I opened a posting. Somehow, I had extra LastPass entries for forums.anandtech.com.

When I removed the duplicate entries and made sure that the remaining entry did not try to automatically fill in fields at login, the problem went away.

Glad you found a solution. I don't use LastPass so that fix certainly would not have occurred to me.
