I was eating some burritos with a fork, and I wasnt paying attention. I bit down onto the metal fork and I ended up chipping a small piece of a front tooth. It's not noticeable unless it is pointed out and someone is right in front of my face.

Is this something I should worry about? Im going to my Dentist soon for a checkup and I think Im going to bring it up to see what he can do....maybe some filing..?

A few months ago I had a beer bottle sitting on my computer desk. I sat down while reading some article, and as my head lowered with the rest of my body my front teeth came down on the rim of the bottle. I have a small chip there now. I'm not sure what to do about it either. It doesn't hurt, and it's easily brushed, so I hope I don't have to get it filled.

I chipped one of mine awhile back (pretty badly) and they were able to put some sort of filling in it so that it wasn't even recognizable. It decays over time, so you have to have it "re filled" every couple of years or so. I just combine it with my yearly cleaning.

DEFINITELY ask your dentist about it. Teeth are weird and irreplaceable. Don't listen to us, check with a professional.

I was lying in bed a couple days ago throwing my belt in the air because I was bored. Well, that thing fell and smacked me straight on my tooth with the buckle. It's not so much a chip as a tiny roughness on the edge of my tooth now. Oh yeah, I also bit on a fork a year ago too. The dentist just filled in the edge of my tooth with that ceramic stuff. That ceramic stuff does rub off a bit more than natural enamel, so yeah, they may need to reapply it eventually, but it's no biggie.

Strangely enough... I also chipped my tooth recently. I was just eating something like a sandwich and I felt a "sand-like" substance grinding between my teeth. Then, my front tooth felt very sharp on the bottom. When I looked closer, it was chipped a little bit.

This happened about a month ago... I will just ask the dentist about it when I go again.

I chipped my tooth just a little on the corner a few years ago, not even sure how. Same as you, wasn't too noticeable. The dentist said all was fine and just smoothed it so it wasn't rough anymore, then filed down the corner of the other tooth slightly to match. Now you can't tell :D

i have a slight slight chip in my front tooth... the dentist keeps wanting to fill it (purely cosmetic) I really dont care... I say it gives me character.

in reality it's a reminder of how dumb i was when i was younger, opening beer bottles with my front teeth :-X

Funny that i have perfectly straight teeth and I was dumb enough to do that........

I chipped my tooth when my sister threw a bowling pin at my face when I was younger. :p The dentist filled it, but that stuff came right off rather quickly.

I chipped one of my front teeth pretty bad a few years ago. It was bad enough that when I looked at it the first thing that popped into my head was I look like I'd fit in sitting on a front porch with the banjo kid from Deliverance. It took the chip that broke off and drove 2.5 hours to my dentist. He re-hydrated that sucker and bonded it back on. It looks normal now and no one would know the difference, unless they looked really, really closely. It looks like a crack in my tooth where he bonded it back on. The good news was that the tooth that chipped was one clean break. He took a little light and held it up behind my other non-chipped front tooth and showed me how it had internally fractured. Pretty much one good hit on that fractured tooth and it will shatter :(. I'm very careful with my front teeth now.

The exact thing the OP mentioned to me happened as well, was tired and wasn't paying attention.

The dentist can let you know what he thinks...sometimes it's a chip you can let be and your tongue will smooth it out, other times it needs to be fixed because it will keep chipping. Fixing costs ~$250 IIRC, he should give you a "1 year warranty" because the material they fix it (same as the tooth-colored filling that they cure with the blue UV light) with can chip too. If the chip on your tooth is on the corner in the middle between your two teeth, and you find it keeps chipping (on random stuff sometimes cereal), suggest that he create a sort of dip between your two teeth-- a small one, but just enough to shift the pressure from between your two teeth to the middle of each tooth. My dentist hadn't thought of this; when I suggested it he thought it was a good idea, and the fix is still doing quite well several years after.

Best of luck.

the molars were probably all filled around the same time and the teeth were just weakened shells of themselves and vulnerable to fracture. that's my guess.

porcelain crowns aren't more durable than gold they just look prettier. the porcelain is baked onto metal in some cases so you can chip it off. gold is best for back teeth that aren't visible while smiling/talking.

Be sure to bring it up, there could be a possibility that it cracked the tooth as well and needs to be re-enforced.

I chipped a tooth last fall, it was $150 at the dentist office. Just a week or two ago, one of my wisdom teeth chipped, not sure how that happened. I figure those teeth will eventually have to come out, so I'm not worried about it.

one of my front teeth looks like This literally it has a lil square just missing from it, its not too deep but i can feel it with my toung

it happened at a concert when the singer from POD did a stage dive and landed on my head when i wasent looking, i asked my dentist about it and she said that sometimes with tramatic things like that 1 day i might wake up and itll be black, that was 4 years ago, i opted not to pay hundreds to fix it and the tooth is still fine
