I'm so excited with 13 extra dollars a week, I finally have the problems of the world melting away from me. 52$ a month - will enable me to vacation in Europe finally - and with the exchange rate, I'll be able to do so much while I'm there

After 8 months of saving this windfall, I'll also be able to get a netbook I've always wanted. . .



This surely will be the end of the crisis. I'm stoked.

Instead of complaining, you could take that money and purchase a health insurance policy rather than continuing to ask for universal healthcare funded by other taxpayers like you constantly do. Of course, then you'd have to (horrors) do something responsible with your money, and of course we can't have that!

Dude, I pay taxes. A shitload of taxes. And he's completely right.

There are LOTS of people out there who would turn up their nose at a $13 a week tax decrease, because it's such an insignificant amount. On the other hand, if it was a $13 a week tax increase, they would be throwing a shit-fit because it's so much.

You can't have it both ways, either $13 a week is insignificant or it is not.

I think the big issue that a lot of us have is that we're seeing at best, $600 a year of a return per taxpayer on a $6,000 loan per taxpayer we gave the government.

$800 a year (after income and payroll tax) is significant to many poor or even middle class income couples. Sure, it isn't a huge amount, and it isn't as much as Obama wanted, but it would certainly be nice. It is $400/year per wage earner for those who are single or who have families with working teenagers.

I guess it must be nice to be you where $800 in a year is meaningless. And it will pay for one ticket to Europe depending on the time of year.

True, the stimulus plan will cost far more than $800 to your family. But, if it helps keeps your job you'll be far better off with the stimulus than without it. For me, it'll likely be a net loss as my job is pretty much as secure as they come for the next few years (federal government grant work).
