I have long legs, and I can't touch my toes. Whenever I try, the tendons all along the back of my leg get pretty tight, if I keep stretching these (hamstrings?) will I eventually be able to touch my toes?

Some people are just more inflexible than others. Even when I was in high school and in good shape, I could not touch my toes. It ain't gettin' easier the older I get, either, although I still stretch and exercise.
what everyone else said... if you stretch often (everyday)... you'll eventually be able to touch your toes. this is not something that can be done with only one weeks worth a stretching either... you need to do it consistently for months.
being able to touch your toes doesn't mean your not in good shape. I work out and play hockey so I'm in pretty good shape. I have long legs but not very long arms. I'm not the flexible. If you really want to do it, strech for like 15 mins a day every day for a while.
I could never touch my toes either until I started running. Stretching twice every day really helps. If you keep stretching, you will eventually be able to touvh your toes, but why worry about it? Its not like its a necessary social skill or anything (unless you're into .... uhh, well, nevermind that)
