I slept for like an hour before I came into work, and when I woke up I was yelling out in gibberish.

But now I can't talk. It's like the speech part of my brain didn't wake up. Anyone else ever had anything like this? It's like I forgot how to talk. I've had sleep paralization before, but never sleep "not being able to talk for an hour".

I think I've lost my mind! :D

Seriously, that can be the indicator of a small stroke or possible brain damage of some sort. If you experience this for a while, I would go the ER or your physician.

Well, I did crack my head pretty good on a door knob earlier. :p

Whatever it is, I need to fix it soon. I have voice work to do.

That's really bizarre... I've never had anything close to that ever happen to me.

Seriously, if it doens't clear up within an hour, consider going to the emergency room.

I've had sleep issues all of my life. I don't know what I do when I sleep, but it isn't sleep, because I'm usually more tired when I wake up than I was when I went to sleep. I drank some water and I'm feeling a bit more normal.

Try some vocal elementry stuff like saying the ABC's, counting to 100, verbally recalling a song, etc. Are you haveing any difficulties, and what exactly is happening?

I dunno, it's like I have to concentrate to talk. My roomate works the shift before me and he was cracking up because when he'd say something, I'd just kind of mumble at him.

I'll be fine, I just need to wake up. I had to learn the symptoms of a stroke when I was a kid, because of my mom. My speech... whatever it is, isn't characteristic of a stroke.

http://www.wrongdiagnosis.com/s/stroke/symptoms.htm Seriously, it isn't something you should be taking so lightly. This is not normal, no matter how you try and justify it to yourself. There's no "I just haven't waken up" - you have a problem.

Heh, my mom did a lot of drugs while she was pregnant, maybe I have an LSD gland. ;)

I'm vocal now, but I'm still not awake. :p

only when i'm very tired, and only then occasionally. sometimes it becomes a strain to talk, and wrong words tend to come out. but when i'm fully awake it doesn't happen.

I do call centre work myself. Some days would just fly cause I feel like I'm talking with a lot of confidence. Other days, feel very short of breath and I start rushing, mumbling, and tone of speech sounds a bit awkard. At times, I can't even finish a sentence without struggling to grasp for air in between. Wierd.

And not to mention, there's just some pronounciations that I just can't for the life of me pronouce at the correct tone and pace. If I force myself, it just comes out very very wrong. Aieee! I suck at english. :(

Yeah, I had the same problem when I first started doing news. I felt like I couldn't get enough air just reading a freaking sentence. I've learned to pace my breathing since then, so it really doesn't affect me now. As for having problems with words, I have problems with all of the German names up here in Indiana. That and hard "K" sounds.
