It is so damn hot in my apartment that the wife and I are stifling just sitting here. We own a window unit AC that was "legal" with the previous management but now is "illegal" with the new management so we are not "allowed" to use it. SCREW THEM!!!!!!!!!!!! I just took it out of the closet and put it in. At least I will have a decent sleep!!!

The only bonus of the heat was that my wife was wearing just a teddy. 😉

Can't wait to get into our new house!!!!!!!!! HATE RENTING!!!

So management wont let you have air conditioning? :Q Did you have to sign a new lease agreeing not to?

Damn, you must live in a roach motel. I thought all apartment complexes had central heat & air.

Soy/John:

They provide central air but not until June 1st. I would have to check the lease to see if it is expressly forbidden. Doesn't matter long-term. Buying a house.

This is New England. A common belief is that you only need AC 2 weeks out of the year. Our rent is over $1600/month. This part of the world is $$$$$$$$$$$$$.

I KID YOU NOT!

Lol good point 😀 I dont blame you, why suffer if its hot 😉 I'm surprised, so they switch off your central air unit and you cant turn it on. That would anger me 🙂

John: Alot of apts around here have only window units! I cant stand the noisy things!

edit: whoa I saw Soy/John and freaked out 'cause my name is john...I thought you were reading my mind or stalking me for a minute 😉

Soy:

It is some stupid system that it only provides HEAT or AIR. There is a Massachusetts law that requires HEAT be provided until JUNE 1 !!!! So we are stuck.

Sundog:

If all goes well July 31. Only have to put up with the heat in the apt until June 1 when AC becomes "available". After all these years of renting nice to move up and out. 😀

That sucks! What you can do if you think its worth it is actually mount the AC inside on a shelf or something and using something like syrofoam make a seal with the open window and a tube to drain the water outside. Its a bit of effort but then its totally inside your apartment and should function fine...

Damn guys, sorry to hear that.

1600 mo. for rent, and A/C suckage? yikes !! I pay 435.00 for an 825 sq. ft. apartment w/ covered parking. 😉

Congrats on the new house!!

We were supposed to buy one over a year ago (a town house that was being built), and had to back out 1 month before the move-in date. We just had a baby and my wife could not guarantee that she would go back to work, which meant we would make enough for the mortgage etc., but would have nothing going into savings for at least 5 years.

I want a house soooooo bad. Congrats again, I'm jealous.

Mike

John:

That doesn't include parking!!! Add a few hundred more.

Safe to say we are glad to be moving to our house.

Sundog:

I hear ya. We have rented for over 10 years now. Stay optimistic! You'll be there someday. My wife NEVER thought we would!!

I remember my little rented house in Tucson, AZ would get to nearly 100 degrees in the summer, with the AC on! That's one of the top three reasons I moved to San Diego.

I hear you there! The weather is the best. Wish I could afford to move back.

Time to do some cliff diving at La Jolla cove and surf at K-38 (Mexico). I can't wait!!🙂
