On Saturday, went to the gym and worked out on biceps. Maybe I worked out too hard but I didn't use heavy weights or did too many sets. Since yesterday, I've had to slowly move my arms just to straighten it and stretch it. I iced it last night and rubbed some Biofreeze on it but still feel pain. Oh well, just going to tough it out and massage it on occassion. Thanks for listening.

extremely painful? Or just sore as hell?

After a work out, the day afterwards (If you haven't gone in a while) then you'll be sore as hell...but I dont think it would be extremely painful...weird.

Maybe if it doesnt start subsiding soon, you should go see a doctor

Reps are a massive cause of DOM's. The weight isn't so important but heavy weights will cause DOMs also. But you didn't do either.

When was the last time you trained?

You worked out too hard too fast. It will take a few days before the soreness goes away.

I had a friend who did that once, he did like 100 curls with some heavy weights after years of not working out. He couldn't straighten his arms for a couple days. We laughed/made fun of him for quite a while about that.

Yeah. I was thinking if I still feel pain by the end of the week, I'm going to see the doctor. I havent' worked on biceps in a couple of months so I guess I should have use really light weights.

Reps? I didn't know that. I thought it was mainly because of the amount of weight I was doing. The last time was like 2 months and even then that was like on and off training.

Your tendons took a beating. Rest them, within a week, you'll be good as new. The next time you work your biceps, it won't be as bad. Body is damn good at adapting. I didn't workout for 10 days b/c of the flu and I have your exact pain right now. Tendons heal slower because they have less bloodsupply, not much to it. If it's still painful after a week or so...it might be an injury. Wait and see.

This happens to everyone who lifts (it's usually a triceps exercise that does it). Your arms will be fine. Just use better form.

DOM = Dreaded Overdone Masturbation? AKA "Popeye Arm?"

Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness, IIRC.

The opposite thing happened to me when I did a ton of tricep extensions once. The next day I woke up with searing, massive amounts of pain in my arms and I couldn't BEND my arms. It lasted for a few days. I had to walk up to a wall, put my fists on and push forward with my body to get my arms to bend.

Yes. Reps is a killer.

Get say 50-60% of your 1RM and do that for 12reps x 3sets. You will be WRECKED.

I've had that feeling in my arms whenever i start working out after not going to the gym for a while. It gets to the points where i cant even touch my face because of the soreness. Takes me a full week to get over and i usually dont even feel it till the 2nd day.
