Ahhh, another way to phrase "it's all about getting ratings and commercial dollars":
It's "making the shows appealing to the average viewer."
And, hopefully we have some idea of the intelligence level of the average viewer.
And lastly, while I'm calmly ranting about these channels going down the tubes (but still my favorite channels),
Can someone please hire someone to help the mythbusters out? "you'll get wetter walking in the rain than running in the rain the same distance" - give me a break. At least, they got it right when the did a "myths revisited." I've seen them get quite a few incorrect conclusions though... most recently, I walked through the living room, kids were watching the show... "what are they trying to prove or disprove?" I asked. "That you can't split an arrow with another arrow." "Sure you can, but the grain of the wood has to run the length of the arrow."
Mythbuster's conclusion: "You can't." Why? "because of the grain of the wood." *sigh* They're great at building things, but their scientific method is somewhat lacking. Oh, and how about using something other than gunpowder to propel your ice bullet? Maybe... CO2, as in a paintball??
