The best kind is the 2.5mg under the tongue. Don't worry- it tastes just like a Certs.
If you have to get the 3mg swallow kind, that's OK too.. but I've found they don't work as well.
In additiont to this, if you can find some 500mg Valerian root capsules.. take two, in addition to the melatonin. I haven't been able to find the 500mg capsuls recently, so I just bought some 2 capsules=300mg ones. It's annoying taking 6 pills though.
I've found this combination EXTREMELY effective.. Almost too.. Make sure you time taking them right.
15 - 30 minutes on an empty stomach, up to 45 if you've recently eaten & you've taken the swallow melatonin.
I've found it to knock me out pretty effectivly, whether I want to or not.. but as with most herbal and natural sleeping remedys, it can be easy to fight off at times. So lay down and turn out the lights damnit!![]()

Whatever you try, don't bother with Unisom or any generic variant. Stuff is worthless. I can easily take over the adult dosage and not be affected at all.
I can't really speak for the masses... I've never had any problems going to sleep in general.Originally posted by: GoodRevrnd

Do you become dependent on that stuff? Under NORMAL circumstances it takes me about an hour to get to sleep. I'm also have EXTREME difficulty when I get up in the morning, so it doesn't have any hangover type effects does it?

And there's the added bonus that if it doesn't work, you'll understand economics... :beer:

I've only used it when I have to get up at say 8AM, but I've been going to bed at 6AM... so I take some at like 10PM and get a full nights sleep. Just to change my schedule, so to speak.
So I'm not sure what would happen if you took it every night.

You have to take it 8 hours in advance?
So it would theoretically work to help train myself to sleep from 2am-9am instead of 12am-7am?

It takes effect 20-45 mins after you take it. I was just saying that I only use it sporadically, like if I need to get up early, I'll take some when I want to go to bed, so I can fall asleep at the appropriate time.

That doesn't make any sense. If he needs to wake up at 8AM but has been waking up at 6AM, he can just sleep in another two hours. He said if he needed to get up at 8AM but had been sleeping at 6AM (this scenario would leave him with < 2 hours of sleep) then he would use it at say 10PM so he could sleep from around 11PM-8AM - a much healthier 9 hours of sleep.

Ok. My normal schedule is something like;
Wake up at 4PM, stay up until 7AM, sleep until 4PM. Nomatter what the times are, I'll always sleep for 8-9 hours, and be awake for 15-16 hours.
If, for example, I need to be up at 8AM.. I obviously can't go to bed at 7AM, or I'll only have 1 hour of sleep. So If I take the magic potion at around 10PM, I'll hopefully fall asleep by 11.. allowing me to sleep until I need to get up at 8AM, which is a full 9 hours of sleep.. effectivly changing my hours from 4PM-7AM to 8AM-11PM.
Hope that makes sense.. Why is Time such a hard thing to textualize? lol
